Comment:

It is clear that Raafat knows his subject(s) very well. He has real world experience, but is not great at transferring knowledge to students, aka teaching. If you ask a question, he sort of answers it, but usually with something new that also needs to be questioned. He made a lot of concepts overly complicated. I had to put in LOTS of extra effort

Lectures for three hours yet teaches you extremely little. He expects you to know the entire curriculum without teaching it to you. The only way you'll do well is if you read the entire book and teach everything to yourself. I've never felt so compelled to leave a review for a professor before. I wish i could've known he was this bad in advance.

I got an A- in his class so you know my review does not come from spite from someone who failed. By far the worst professor I have ever taken. Lectures for 2 hours and 40 minutes every day with 200 powerpoint slides. Only 5 minutes per class is useful. Extremely tough online quiz every week, two massive tests, and a group project/presentation

Worst online class I've taken at State. Lectures are often close to 2 hours with 15 minutes of crucial info. Material on the test is focused on slides he often skips over. Take someone else.

Do not take. His tests are ridiculous, and his lectures are extremely long and boring. He gives a lot of homework, and grades on somewhat of a curve at the end. I care a lot about my grades and taking him made my GPA take a hit. Just choose someone else.

Take anyone else. Says he curves, but then there is no curve. The book is no help. It seems as if he just pulls questions from thin air. Avoid at all costs.

Your grade is 3 exams, 2 group assignments (get in a good group), and online quizzes (most of the answers you can just Google). I had no interest in this class at all. Rarely showed up as attendance is not mandatory. Whether you show up or not, AplusReview is mandatory for passing. Must of what he teaches is not on the exams. Book is not necessary.

Avoid taking this guy. His lectures are boring and super long. He is monotone which makes it worse to listen to. The tests are very hard and nothing like the lecture or the book. Only 1 or 2 questions come out of the book.

He goes off power points in class. Will give in class problems that can be helpful. Lectures can be boring unless you are an MIS major. He replies to emails quickly and takes into account when students visit him. Depending on the circumstance he will allow make ups. Can be accommodating to students needs. He grades on a curve

Don't waste your money on the book. I bought it and didn't read a single page. I ended up with a C but could have done a whole lot better if I did the homework assignments. He really isn't that hard if you actually try. You can skip lectures because he goes off of his powerpoint and attendance is not mandatory. Do your best and you'll be rewarded.

His first test is extremily difficult and half the class was there for 3 and a half hours taking the test. Average score on test 1 was 73%. That said there is a take home final with the average score of 90%. Hard class and the professor is not very clear on how to do the problems. You need to teach yourself. Be prepared for a difficult class.

Not a good teacher. Very mono tone, does not give you enough time for test. The average grade is 69% for every test, something is wrong when the majority of the class is below a C.

I was .3% away from a B- in this class and he doesn't round, even if you're .1% away. Tests are very hard and only curved mildly. I would DEFINITELY recommend a different teacher. This class sucks as it is. Class is really boring and you don't learn much from it. Read the book and do well on projects and quizzes!

Horrible teacher. Monotone. Class is extremely boring. When teacher asks a class question, no one answers. Does not give enough time for tests. Reviews for tests are pointless. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
