Fladenmuller is really an all around great guy. His class has its pros and occasional cons. Pros being that he is nice, understanding, and you can tell he is passionate about teaching you his native language; which really helps if you go into FREN1001 blind. Cons are simply that he doesn't use blackboard and he will go off on a tangent often.

I had the hardest time in this class. He doesn't use Blackboard and he doesn't post assignments anywhere. He hardly spoke in English even though it was French 1001 and he has an extremely thick accent. It is impossible to take notes because he doesn't write things on the board. He gets off of topic VERY easily. Over half of the students dropped.

So I went into this class thinking that he was the greatest professor ever. He told really funny stories & he was super laid back. We have the book, but we didn't do the exercises. If we did do them, he just talked about it and we did't write anything down. He doesn't teach very well. One time we watched Jimmy Fallon in class for no reason???

DO NOT TAKE FOR SPANISH! I hear he is a great french teacher, but if spanish is not your strong point you are really going to struggle, like I did. He mumbles a lot and doesn't ever answer your questions, when I went to go see him about my grade in his office, he told me there was nothing he could do to help me and offered no assistance.

He was really nice and interesting, and we always watched really cool French films. Unfortunately, his French is really fast and his accent is really thick, so a lot of the time I had a hard time understanding him. But he's really nice and I think he is lenient with grades.

Dr. Fladenmuller is an awesome French professor. He goes off on tangents quite a bit, but the stories he tells are very interesting. The movies he showed in class were VERY wierd...but somewhat necessary. Overall, if you want to learn French from an authentic Frenchman...definitely stick with "Fladdy."

A great teacher if Spanish is your strong point. He mumbles and goes on tangents, and he doesn't always explain grammatical uses well. But he really wants you to understand the material. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it IS NOTED. I tested into SPAN3 after 7 years off Spanish and his class was perfect. If you ENJOY Spanish, take this class.

He gives a ton of work to do before tests. Most of the class is in French, as is to be expected, but he speaks very fast and makes people too intimidated to ask him to repeat himself.

Professeur Fladenmuller is great. A lot of people do not understand him and misunderstand his teaching methods. He keeps it short and to the point, simply to eliminate confusion. If you study, you will learn. I had some previous French before this class, but I thought he was the best French professor I've ever had.

Very intriguing person. His teaching style is quick and to-the-point but a little erratic at times. He definitely rewards people for trying hard and offers extra credit anywhere he can.

I'm not one to blame a teacher if I'm not getting the material. But I think teaching Spanish is not his strong point. Vocab quizzes, a couple compositions, chapter tests. There's homework, but it's usually done as a class exercise. The class felt lost most of the time. Has his entertaining moments, though. I got a B, but try taking someone else.

Prof Flad is rather difficult. It doesn't help much that he has a really strong French accent. He always seems agitated whenever he is asked a question. I would recommend taking someone else. Prof Anderson is easier...hint, hint.

This guy is not a good spanish teacher. He does not clearly explain any thing. He spends most of the time talking about nothing and then speeds through his lesson to get out of class early. We covered one whole chapter (was sheduled for three) because he wanted to stay home and watch world cup games.

If you've taken French at a relatively high level before, something beyond novice or introductory, he's easy. French is never going to be easy in college if you're still in the process of learning it for the first time. The perspective he provides as a Frenchman is important for understanding French life and culture. Attendance policy is usually pretty chill, he rarely takes it. He tells you what to write for compositions and what to study for on tests and quizzes. Knows a surprising amount about American football. He let class out early often, even when he was two weeks behind in the syllabus. Is very helpful during office hours. Class isnt that boring but as mentioned above, can be short. All in all, very straightforward and enjoyable. I would take him again in a heartbeat.

I had Dr. Fladenmuller for two French classes and he is a pretty chill professor. Knows a surprising amount about American football. Even when he was two weeks behind the syllabus, he still let class out 15-30 minutes early. His class is very manageable and straightforward. He tells you what you will be quizzed and tested on.
