Mr. Serrano is a very passionate teacher, one should not put down someone for having a desire to say what is true concerning the world, and all the past ignorant mistakes that some have made. If life is only based on the present then those that believe that are narrow minded. Truth hurts,and those that seek after it, will be given a revelation

In this society you might value a teacher for teaching efficiently, by the book. However, if you put everything into context, I think Mr. Serrano might b making a point by teaching + than that and teaching u how to develop a p.o.v. I don't know what to say about Gabe Serrano's class except that his Group Relations class is pointless and boring! I don't have much of a problem with Gabe but I highly regret giving his class three hours of my life each week. Crazy easy 'A' but be prepared to learn nothing. I literally couldn't tell you one thing about the class yet I got an A.

Currently in his class. Disappointing. Very very little discussion on the book wasnt worth the money to buy the book. Class is mostly on Mexican history, you will learn all the negatives of white culture. If you disagree with anything he says you are considered ignorant. Easy A but not a sociology class.

Movies and documentaries are the best but his lectures are not that good. I didnt learn a lot from him and I believe he dodnt pay too much attention to his readding assignments.Most of my classmates in the class just nod to what he is saying and if you ask them personally if they learn in the class, they will say no or a little bit.

Not a very good teacher, whatsoever. He tends to go off on tangents about racism and chicano activism, despite whatever the topic of the day may be. Refers to the book very little. HORRIBLE at lecturing. I took his intro to socio class, but it felt more like a chicano studies class. I wouldn't recommend this teacher to anyone. Ever.

I took this class a few years ago. It was one of my all time favorite classes. It is definetely a class for those w/ an open mind. If you are close minded, you will fail to grasp the points and will not learn anything from this class. For those interested in expanding your view of the world, I would strongly recommend taking this class.
