Comment:

It's an easy class as long as you do all the assignments, and put some effort into them. There's only 3 essays you have to write and a podcast, and some small assignments. She cancels class fairly often, and you can miss class 5 times before you lose points. She cares a lot about her students success, and gives opportunities to better your grade.

Literally so easy. Good extra credit opportunities for the course evaluation and if you go for office hours once. There is only 3 big writing assignments and the last one is just a revision of one of the 2 you did before. You get 50 points for attendance if you don't miss more than 5 times. So easy.

She's a nice teacher, don't get me wrong but she cancels class all the time. I signed up for Eng 102 at 9:00 am and I drive all the way from Caldwell to Boise. Waits last minute to post email about cancelled class. It's week 8 into the semester and she hasn't posted any grades on Blackboard. It's supposed to remain a mystery if you pass or fail...

Comment:

Cancelled class so often I began to count on it being cancelled so I could spend time doing other things. While I don't mind teachers cancelling class usually, this was excessive, and I paid money for very little in terms of learning. At the end of the semester a sub came in and taught for the rest of the term, and they were a much better teacher.

Garawyn was an easy teacher for UF 200. She made an online class interesting and easy to follow week by week. She gave us a lot of freedom when discussing a week's topic through Blackboard. She replied to emails fast and made sure students were up to date with what materials we needed to know. Only problem was slow grading, but very minor.

SUPER helpful. Will give you great, honest and understandable feedback. Your final grade is a portfolio of three essays that you spend the whole semester forming. She reads them and responds throughout the semester. All homework has a purpose and it's helpful. She is extremely clear of exactly what she wants. No BS. Loved the class.

Garawyn was an amazing English teacher! She knew what she was talking about, and she only did activities that were actually beneficial to the students. She is super understanding to the students, and the work load is very reasonable. The final is 3 essays that you spend the entire semester forming.

She's a cool, pretty easy professor. Class attendance isn't really necessary but you should definitely try to make a lot of her lectures (she does more like class discussions which help your papers). Essays are easy and she's happy to help you out. you can look up the poemsessays we read online so textbook isn't necessary, but helps

Garawyn is professional, friendly and understanding. She gave us every opportunity to get an A in the class and was totally available to help or give suggestions. Class does get cancelled once in awhile so check, but she adjusts homework expectations accordingly. She expects her students to participate so when she asks a question,respond.

Ok you guys. This professor is SUPER nice. If you ever need anything she is there for you right away, no questions, to help. There is a LOT of reading that is long and hard to understand. If you do the readings before class you will be prepared. She models tests after lectures so she remembers what you talk about.

Her clarification on what she wanted completed on an assignment was horrible. She flipped out durring class because the class did not answer to her retorical question. she then canceled class for the day. the class and i were very confused that day about her actions.

She's not a very good instructor at all, in my opinion. She doesn't do anything useful is class, brushes over important material and makes tests that are not well worded/too long. She will laugh at all her own jokes and allow the typical "loud annoying answer everything" students to over run the lecture and interrupt others. I won't take her again.

Garawyn is a great teacher! I also took her E90 course last semester. My writing has improved by leaps and bounds since I have taken her classes. I highly recommend her to anyone! If you follow the syllabus and ask questions you will get the grade you want and improve your writing skills!
