As expected in a communications class, you will be doing multiple speeches. You have to come to class to give speeches, listen to others' speeches, and a few group workshop days. Honestly, he made it painless and at some points I may even have called it fun. It was a blessing in disguise compared to what I could have had to deal with.

If you attend class everyday and are attentive, then there is no reason to be confused about his expectations. Put forth the effort and his class is very enjoyable. He creates a good environment for people who are timid about public speaking. If you want to pass his exams, you must read the book.

Dr. Balfantz is a good person, very Passionate and wise. He can be Hilarious if you get to know him, and he is willing to chat with you if you are a student with drive and and goals. if you didn't like him, you were not putting in your potential, and he knew it. He will grade a slacker the way a slacker deserves. I think he's great.

I like the guy. He's pretty reasonable, albiet a little nebulous in what he wants us to do, but I think he's a pretty interesting person as well as a good instructor. If you have him for a class, you will have to do a bit of work, but it isn't anything unreasonable.
