Dr. Berg is the best. He gives really great notes and expects you to learn the material. Do the review and the practice tests and you'll do great.

He know his material most of the time. Sometimes will ramble on and off but usually gets back on track. If you do the homework and especially the reviews, you WILL get an A in this class. The review is almost like the test and the final review was a BIG help to the test. He also allows a cheat sheet which helps with formulas. Didn't even go to disc

He's a good professor. Homework was worth 20% of grade, and each other test was worth 20%. He makes it possible to get a high grade on the tests, and he puts his notes online.

First day, he pulls up this typed paper and reads math out loud. Doesn't write anything down, just reads integrals too fast for you to write/understand. Very math-heavy vocab. I nearly cried. So I skip all of his lectures and teach myself. Which I personally don't mind at all bc his tests are actually pretty easy. If you hate that, don't take him.

The class wasn't so bad, if you can teach yourself from the textbook. He was generally very condescending towards students who didn't understand, and when I talked to him about office hours he refused to see me any other time than when his assigned hours were, so I was forced to skip class for him. I don't recommend taking his M302 class at all.

Terrible professor and condescending towards student. Course was flipped, so a lot of work online but little to no teaching in class. I would not even recommend him as a last resort.

Berg teaches straight from a list of cut-and-dry notes and projects them onto the board. If you ever ask a question, he'll make a bad joke that leaves you kind of humiliated for asking in the first place. The tests are easy if you manage to figure out what you're doing though.

Received an A in the class, skipped his class many times. TA taught mostly everything, you should probably take this professor as a last resort. I knew most of the material since in high school my AP teacher was really great. You could self teach yourself with the book, but that's just causing more work.

He spends most of his time deriving equations as opposed to actually teaching. Fast-paced lectures that are confusing, and does very little to help when asked a question.

Even if he was a good teacher, here's why you shouldn't take his class: He doesn't do +-. I was on the edge of an A, but I bombed the final. (Actually, a lot of people didn't do well on the final.) Instead of getting an A- or a B+, I got a flat B. And this class is four credit hours, so it's a really big blow to your GPA.

He can be a little condescending when answering questions and he is not the most enthusiastic teacher. He will go over whatever question you ask however, even hwk ones before you turn them in. The grading is somewhat subjective (Math go figure) due to the neatness in your handwriting and how clean your answer is. If you read the book, you'll good.

Dr. Berg's monotone voice can put you to sleep easily. His lectures consisted of copying notes from the book verbatim, his explanations were unhelpful, and he can be belittling and condescending at times. However, he graded fair and allowed us to use one notecard on each exam (two for the final). Would recommend only when given no other option.

Dr. Berg is one of the WORST professors I've ever had. He is so rude and sarcastic to students every day. I could explain statistics way better than him and I still know nothing about the subject. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Dr. Berg is a tough professor. I had him for first year calculus and he gave me a real wake up call. Does not baby you at all- posts notes online and reviews them in class, and expects you to do lots of work on your own. The tests are relatively easy, but you must work hard on your own and with the TA to be successful in this class.

You MUST teach yourself the concepts if you are a non-major or not a natural. Took me way too long to figure that out and I bombed the tests. He is awkward and unfriendly during office hours and question periods in class. Lectures are just him reading notes. Read the textbook and practice the exercises on your own!!

Doesn't teach very well, points at a paper on the projector. Nothing will be written on the board, very little will be worked out by hand. In total, I went to maybe a third of the classes, self taught, and made an A. It takes a while to self teach and it wasn't really easy, but the tests aren't too difficult and the homework is doable.

Very easy professor - gives you 3 midterms where you're allowed to use a notecard with anything on it, and a final. I don't know what all the talk about him being sarcastic is, he is a good guy who knows his stuff. Prepares you for college work!

I asked plenty of questions. Yes, he can be a little sarcastic, but don't let it turn you off. Keep asking questions. He's really very helpful and patient. If show you are interested, he really does take the time to explain things in detail. Also, his tests are his homeworks, like most math profs.

I had him for discrete math in '09, one of the best teachers I've had. I still stop by to say hi. A lot of the negative comments on here pertain to lazy first year students. Yes he's not the most popular professor, and yes he can be arrogant at times, but he is not a jerk. He is a really kind person and will help, but only if you help yourself.
