I've taken HISP 101, 102, 206, 323, and 325 with him. Great and helpful man! Full of knowledge if you wanna go in debt, yet easy to pass and understand. Don't bother getting textbooks unless your a major.

I have taken 325,305, and 323 with Stanton. 325 and 323 are elective classes and you can easily do relatively minimal work (so long as you go over notes for tests and write the papers). 305 is a big major requirement for HISP, so you have to try harder for that, plus you document a house like in 205, which takes some work. Great guy, really funny.

Stanton is a sweet, understanding professor, but the class is PAINFULLY boring. I went to half of the sessions and zoned out for every one of them. I'd recommend this class only to die-hard Hisp majors, who don't mind dry, monotonous powerpoint lectures. Also, textbook is useless. Study the online notes for tests and you'll manage at least a B.

Professor Stanton is a really nice man. He was very helpful and is funny, but a lot of the jokes are kinda corny. He did say um a lot during lectures and also didn't really give a lot of time to take notes off of the powerpoint before switching slides. Absolutely go to class because he notices who comes and that matters. Very picky with papers too.

really, really nice guy, but not a good professor. honestly, going to class didn't help me understand anything. i've never had a teacher say "uh" or "um" more often. just study for the information online. it's also a really boring class, even though there's not much work at all. don't take this class if you aren't required to (like i did).

Great guy, but NOT a good teacher. he is really confusing in his notes and lecture, and the book he makes you read doest clarify what he is saying. his tests are cumulative and there is A LOT of info to learn. its a really hard class and his teaching level doesnt help at all.

Love this man. He is scatterbrained when he teaches and needs to work on his lecture style to make things more clear, but try and listen bc he actually is quite smart and has done so much research on subjects hes a great contact to have.

I got nothing out of this class. His lectures are all over the place and half "uh" and stuttering. It's hard to pay attention and to figure out exactly what he wants on assignments. He's bad about answering e-mail or questions in general and usually ends up making you more confused. Easy SI credit, but sitting through the class is a royal pain.

Stanton is a good guy but cannot teach at all. His lectures were more than half stutters and had no real value. He gave next to no feedback on assignments. I would not recommend him as a professor.

I love Gary. I have had him for the intro folklore class, vernacular architecture and the folklore lab. He is by far my favorite professor. Yes, very scattered brained, but a wonderful person. PLease take a class with him. Some days might put you to sleep, but his enthusiasm is exciting.

Professor Stanton knows a lot about his subject, but his thought process is hard to understand. Read online outlines or text to be familiar with material before class, otherwise he just seems to talk in circles. Regardless, i loved him!

Prof. Stanton is very nice and knows a great deal about the subject, however the class itself is not very exciting. All of the study guides from class are online though study hard for the tests.

Great professor who is endlessly enthusiastic about the classes he teaches. He is helpful with everything, though bound to talk your ear off. Extremely fair grader and is flexible and reasonable with due dates. His lectures will put most people to sleep, but he's such a nice guy that I'd recommend taking any class of his.

Professor Stanton is so nice and willing to help you in any way he can. He is very enthusiastic about historic pres, but the material covered in the class really isn't that exciting. All the notes are online so it is easy to skip class. Tests cover a lot of material and the final is cumlative...
