His lectures are long and boring but provide a lot of information that will be on the test. You only have 3 tests and the GECC assignment, so you need to perform while on each test. At the end of the semester, he does curve the grades.

He isn't horrible!! Not understanding. Doesn't care about your personal matters. Lectures heavy and not very clear. This wasn't an introductory course and I love biology. Wouldn't recommend

Tests are super hard. He tries to be funny but it's so awkward and makes class go by slower. He isn't willing to help if you need it. Lectures are scattered. Run far away from this professor if you can!

I was in bio for 2 years and know the cell like the back of my hand. This class was way to difficult. He has attitude and almost no one went to class.

Awwwwwwful. His lectures are long and boring, and don't expect any help from him. The only time he gives out test grades are at the end of his class because he doesn't put them on Tracs. Provides barely any office hours. His reviews do not correlate to the test hardly at all. If you're taking him for bio, good luck :-)

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I took this thinking it wasn't going to be too challenging considering it is for non majors but it was my most difficult class. Pulled my GPA way down. Glad I passed just so I don't have to take it again. It's really hard. Everyone I knew in there did horribly despite long hours at the library. DO NOT TAKE I REPEAT DONT TAKE

His lectures are confusing and his study guides are extremely vague. He grades on a bell curve aiming for Cs and Ds, so expect to do stellar on his tests to make an A. Lots of guesswork when it comes to studying for his exams. Would never recommend. He makes awfully corny jokes and doesn't teach everything that goes on his tests (100 questions).

Dr Upchurch is a good guy, just lame. His jokes are lame and his class is boring. Attendance isn't mandatory, but is recommended. His study guides are ok, but just read the chapters to study. He curves your grade pretty generously at the end of the year. Even though I got a B, I wouldn't recommend or retake.

This was my hardest class. I have all A's in every single class except this one which pissed me off. When I asked him for help he was sarcastic & rude. He doesn't use tracs, which SUCKS. The study guides were vague, his lectures were boring. NO EXTRA CREDIT.. and it was non-majors. I don't reccommend him. Find another prof!

Worst prof ever! There was no point in going to class bc he just put the notes online & the lecture was basically him just reading them. The tests were all 100 questions long & the reviews were too general and didn't help! DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS I REPEAT DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!

Whoever says he's a terrible teacher obviously didn't show up to class. He's very straightforward and gives reviews that match the exams well. They are hard, but definitely not bad. He tries to make jokes to keep people interested, since he knows it's a non-major class. I expect a B+ showing up to classes and using the study guide. Not a blow off

Upchurch is a nice guy but no amount of corny jokes or cheesy lines will make you a good teacher. His lectures go in circles and tend to confuse rather than help you. The book and his lectures dont really line up so you most likely have to study like crazy to even make a C. The points from lab will probably save you..

You will never know what to expect on a test; the study guides aren't much help; he makes corny jokes; and he doesn't post grades until the end of the semester. The only reason I passed this class is because my lab grade brought up my lecture grade. I do NOT recommend.

Talk about a tough class for a non-major Bio class. Class is alright but the tests are really long. (About 100 questions) Dr. Upchurch is a bit broad when he lectures and tries to say a lot of corny jokes and puns. Attendance isn't required but is highly recommended. He has honestly been the worst professor I've ever had. His lectures are very boring and his tests are super detailed. DON'T take this professor!
