Comment:

The class is completely lecture based. Tests are all multiple choice. Attendance is not mandatory, but he gives extra credit. He also gives quizzes before the tests that are worth extra points and the same questions are on the test. He is so passionate about politics and he is a really nice, funny man. I would recommend him.

Comment:

Dr. Wekkin is such a sweet man. You can tell that he is passionate about government. On that note, if you are not into government, you will have no idea what is going on in the class. Sometimes he gets off track and talks about random things that will not be on the tests. His tests are pretty easy if you study the definitions from the chapters.

This is a difficult Gen Ed. The only points you get are from tests, & you must read the book/listen in lecture to get a good grade. Some questions are straight from lecture like 'your professor thinks". He does offer opportunity for bonus points & let us retake a test. He's very smart so lectures can be confusing, & he tends to go off on tangents.

Dr. Wekkin is a nice guy. He is very passionate about the subject, and you sure can tell. He gets so into his lectures that he gets off track which causes confusion. Attendance is not mandatory and tests are hard if you do not study and know the material. I would not recommend taking him

Dr. Wekkin is a nice enough guy. Definitely knows what he is talking about. The tests aren't extremely hard, but not easy. I agree with previous comments. If you want to do good on tests you must study the chapters, not read, study. The chapters are super long. If you don't have the time to do that I would take some one else.

He is getting ready to retire and I can see why. I love the guy, but he cannot stay on topic to save his life and it's the hardest class to study for. I seriously still don't know how to properly do it. I wouldn't take him. However, if you are very interested in this subject he may not be quite as bad.

I took this class as a general ed and it was way to difficult for a gen ed class. He strays off subject more than half the time. This class was one of the most boring I've ever had. Its very easy to not pay attention or just skip class all together. Advice: Don't take him.

Words can't describe Wekkin. He gets REALLY into his lectures. He does this odd shaking of the face that reminds me of my dog. He hugs himself in his lectures and beats on the wall..a lot..i have no idea why. He gets off subject, but it makes the class funny. He knows his stuff, and he'll tell you about it. Used to work in politics.

Is a totally scatter-brained rambler. Very little of the lectures are tested on. Read the book to pass the tests. Pretty easy tests, multiple choice. 2 tests, 1 final and two 12 point bonuses for my class. Coming to class doesnt really seem necessary. The Wekkinator is a toss up, but very passionate about politics

Very boring. I skipped class often because attendence was not neccessary. 3 tests worth 100points, but had some bonus. He is very knowledgeable, but seems to go on and on about topics that are very boring. Would not recommind taking.

Wekkin may not be a looker, but he knows his stuff. Mainly lectures but believes and defends what he says. Not just spouting off generic definitions and basic info. About 3 tests, that are somewhat difficult but gives extra questions on tests so you can still demonstrate you know and understand the material. Would take the Wekkinator again!

He has this strange way of sounding like the guy off of Prairie Home Companion. He tended to focus on uninteresting topics like media (come on, we all know that they are biased) and was not very helpful when I asked about a suspect grade - kept misplacing the scantron.

Dr. Wekkin is a very interesting man with a lot of knowledge about the presidency. He often cracks jokes and goes on tangents during lecture though. Note taking is difficult since he often is off-topic. Tests and reading are fairly challenging and a 20 page paper is required. No attendance policy, though! Not an easy A, but definitely a fun class.

Wekkin is pretty cool. I always enjoyed his lectures, though they usually had nothing to do with the test. READ YOUR BOOK! You will regret it if you don't. Read all of it- even the charts. That's the best advice I can give.

He's a great guy, obviously knows what he's talking about and has a quirky sense of humor, but I felt this was a bit much for a gen ed. Take and study class notes, but you may want to bring a tape recorder cause his lectures stray from the notes & are hard to take in while writing. There are only 3 tests,all your grade (no assignments) so study!

Dr. Wekkin is very educated in the poli sci field. There is a certain air you get from him that lets you know he knows everything about every person in the political arena. Quite nervous b/c no attendance, assigns 3 books that he expects you to read in your own time. 2 tests, final-extremely hard but I pulled a B, one 20 page paper. Enjoyed Him

Dr.Wekkin is a very smart man and he does a good job of breaking down government which is completely greek to me. However he is a very excentric and passionate man and gets VERY into his lessons at time. Stays off topic a lot, tests can be tricky but study hard and not just the day before the test and that will help.
