He does not try to explain the material fully to you; he expects to introduce you to the concepts and for you to go try to figure it out alone (or in a group), then come to him with specific questions. I agree with the guy below; Itkis does sound like Borat. However, he is terrible in explaining anything. You cant learn from him. HWs are always made unclear (bad wording); additional clarification is always required. Tests were made of the hws(!). I got an A in the class but still, avoid him if you can. Bad professor.

This guy sounds exactly like Borat. He understands the material well, but the course as a whole is disorganized. All the material outside of class is from some MIT course, He always leaves alot of stuff unclear on the assignments, maybe because he wants to spark discussion? He also makes alot of typos and date mismatches on the assignments.

I've taken a few classes with itkis and I have to disagree with everyone. He is a very helpful and understanding guy that I feel does a good job teaching a very difficult subject. Granted I never had him as an undergrad but as a grad I really like his classes. I'd go out of my way to take his class over other theory profs.

I'll give him credit for trying. He's not a bad guy, but he simply isn't a good teacher. Interested in the material, knows his stuff, but unable to convey it in a meaningful way. Midterms and finals are fair, but look to spend you weekends doing assignments.

nice guy, horrible Professor. Doesn't teach ANY code, only theory. Assigns insane projects/homeworks and exam averages are usually very low. Ended up with a B in the course, but he drove me insane because of it.
