Comment:

Nice guy, bad teacher. The accent is hard to understand. Nothing is posted on to brightspace (no solutions, recommended practice problems, marks). Overall, felt lost throughout the course. The textbook was a huge help since the majority of his questions are pulled from there. No guidance throughout the course.

Professor Sun is a good prof. His lectures may be a little boring and he is difficult to understand but if you go to every class, pay attention and read the textbook you will be fine. He is also very good for explaining anything you might not be understanding. The tests are hard but similar to what you do in lab.

This prof is one of the nicest I've had at smu, language barrier was tough in the beginning but a week in and you are used to it. Long as you study material you will do fine. About 6 of use showed up for lecture and it seemed we had an easier time then those who didn't. As he assigns assignments in class and doesn't put them online

He does have a pretty thick accent, but it's much easier to understand him when you talk to him one-on-one, so get help if you need it. He's very good at answering your questions and will walk you through the problem until you understand it. Would take a class with him again!

Honestly, he's not a bad guy he tries to help but it's just the language barrier is so thick you can't hear him through it. He's not a very good prof though, for the final exam he put about two sections on it that he didn't teach and didn't tell us to learn and when everyone got a low grade he just bumped it up so you could scrape by with a C/C+

Great prof! Hard to understand but he really wants every student to do well and is always there to help. Midterms and final were fair. Attend lab as he uses similar questions on exams. Also, read the textbook to really understand the material!! If you do, you'll easily get an A.

When former students said he is hard to understand I didn't know they meant his accent...however he is very helpful and the lab exercises help with the tests. Plus you should stick to the book for reference.

REALLY difficult to understand when hes teaching to the entire class. Had to rely heavily on the textbook because I found the powerpoints hard to read(yellow type on a blue background) and confusing. BUT the course is quite easy, and the material covered in the "labs" helps with tests

Dr. Sun takes several weeks to get used to his accent, which is not good for a difficult subject. The material was overwhelming at times but if you rely on the textbook and do the practice problems in it you should be able to do alright in this class. the lab is easy but doesn't really follow the lecture

I loved this guy. Sometimes he was a bit hard to understand but his slide shows, labs, and book REALLY helped with understanding the material. His lab tests are the exact same questions you get in lab. VERY fair midterm and final. I came out with an easy A+ and I would love to have him again!

Dr. Sun is much easier to understand now. His tests and lab assignments are pretty easy but its not a bird course, you still have to pull your own weight. Dr. Sun is very approachable and is ALWAYS willing to hlep with whatever problems you might have. The only complaint is I never want to see a Drohophila again. haha. Keep it up Genlou :)

Although he IS hard to understand he's still a pretty good teacher. He has powerpoint lectures which make it easier if you can't understand what he's saying. HIs labs are lots of practice with probability, and the tests are pretty easy too. He's a really nice man.
