Top-notch looks. Tight. Wish he was my dad. Is PROBABLY well hung. Its No Nut November now and Ive lost every Tuesday and Thursday so far. Seriously, though, hes probably the best professor on the face of the planet. Jordan B. Peterson? More like Jordan B. Dumbo.

Great guy, such a passion for history and teaching. I took this as an elective while in engineering and it was such a great break from all the math haha. You didn't really need to go to class but I was always upset when I had to miss one. He was one of my favourite profs, very interesting. Take home exam and only 2 larger projects.

Hayes is great to talk to one on one. He is friendly and funny. But this course was brutal. His lectures are just him rambling, his powerpoints are terrible, and it is very hard to stay awake.

Good prof, knows what he's talking about. Can get a bit long-winded with anecdotes, but can easily maintain interest. Excellent to talk to outside of class.

Awesome prof but can get off topic or boring. When he is on topic he is incredible... when he is talking about war memorials well not so much.

Hayes is a professor you shouldnt avoid. He is incredibly funny, yet caring and wants to ensure students come out of his class not only learning the facts, but also the issues surrounding the events. He is always availible for office hours and is a riot at History Society events!

the course was really easy, studied only minimally for the midterm and exam and wrote both essays the night before and got an 85. the classes were really boring, the prof rambled a lot about military strategy and other useless things which were never on the tests. you could pretty much learn all you need to know on wikipedia for this class.

somehow manages to take the most interesting topic in the world (world wars) and make it boring. He talks about the most useless information. If you want to learn about war memorials and his uncle. then take this class.

Great Prof. Some reviewers are right in that he takes his time, in that sense its hard to follow, but he's the most helpful prof and teaches great material. He is amazing in his office hours and virtually a verbal library of everything you need to know. I got by by reading the material and asking him my questions 1on1

Great prof, really knows his stuff, fun lectures. I was sad when the class ended. Assignments/exams are thought provoking; he tries to get you to understand what history is about (i.e. understanding controversy, how people understood events at the time, etc.) Fun course, fair evaluation. Highly recommended, even if you aren't keen on war history.

Hayes tries to teach his class a new take on history. He try and places the atmosphere of historic events on the students to allow them to understand the events in context of the time. In that sense he is a great prof. One problem i have is that he likes to take his time, and use unecessary amounts of it. Too laid back for my taste.

Amazing prof. I've graduated now, and did History as my minor. Hayes is still the best history prof I had in Waterloo because of his passion for the subject matter.

Hayes is an amazing prof. He's very approachable and always willing to help students who really care and are interested in the material. He really deserved that distinguished prof award. His lectures are hard to follow, but as long as you do background info and know significances your set.His class convinced me into becoming a History major!
