interesting class! long lectures, lots of notes, but he is fairly nice. the art projects were fun but MOST classes were lectures.take A LOT of notes and READ THE TXTBOOK for tests.I got an A- and did very well on all of the exams. Alot of work for an intro class but if u take notes and read the txtbook it is not as bad as you think. just work hard!

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST TEACHER I'VE HAD- EVER!! Work load is tremendous, a review sheet for a 50 question multiple choice test he gave was 5 pages and I completed it in over 10 pages. He makes you go to the city to a museum for a 5 page essay and it the MOST DIFFICULT GRADER!!! DO NOT TAKE A COURSE WITH HIM!! TERRIBLE!!!!!!!

When I read the reviews about Black I was nervous about taking his class. However, he's actually a really nice man! Just show him respect and you'll get respect back. He likes talking to his students and getting to know them. I'm a girl and I got an A- in his class. He’s not against women like some comments make him out to be. Just get to know him!

His view on art was completely opposite of my own first off. I didnt really agree with anything he said. His tests were straight forward if you read the textbook. He's a hard grader but I guess he's pretty fair.

This professor is very strict with what he teaches. He views art in a whole different way as to what a couple of college students might view it. His test are moderately hard but he gives you review sheets. I kind of liked him & He has you go to the MET to give a presentation on two work of arts of your choice, and analyze them in from of the class

Professor Black is one of the worst teachers that I have had at this school. He rolls his eyes constantly and thinks that his opinion is the only one that matters. For a level 100 class, Black makes impossible tests and his attitude is totally unnecessary. DO NOT TAKE HIM. (especially if your a girl, he ONLY likes guys.)

i took him for ceramics 2. he comes off as a hard professor but he really isnt! he is very cocky and expects alot from your work. but thats just because he knows alot about ceramics. his class was a pleasure and sometimes his stories were entertaining. one of the best classes i have taken at st joes!
