I took History 101 this semester. This was a easy class IF you have good time management. Expect to write a lot. On the bright side, Professor Gastil is an easy grader, which makes it a little better for the amount of work due each week.

Do not take this class if you work full time. You will have multiple essays due almost every week with discussions. Ensure you respond to your peers or do not take the credit for the discussion. He will have you get two textbooks. You will use one for most of the class and the smaller one at the end of the class.

Professor Gastil is a wonderful lecturer. Everytime I went to class he laid out what the test was on, and how we could do well. The only problem was the amount of writing. Either way, I recommend him, hes a great proffesor.

Easy grader but non stop homework, pretty much if you want homework every single day then take this class. You have BS discussion boards every other day... Papers every week, Journals which arent normal journals its 2, 2 page papers on random nothing. Late work is fine but too much work in general its history 101 not master level.

Took this class online, he made sure to let you know if you were falling behind and worked with you to make sure you got back on track. Tests were in essay form, he gives clear instructions on what he expects for each assignment.

Grace period on assignments. Willing to work w/ you if you need to submit something late. Responsive. Course was packed but pretty much discussions, journals (3), exam essays (3), book essay and a 'special project'. It requires some work put into it but it's not that bad. He tells you what he wants and you either provide or not. I'd take him again.

He is such an understanding professor. There are so many opportunities for extra credit and he will give you an extension if you need one. There here are many essays to write, but he will give you a good grade as long as you try. Hes NOT a tough grader. Gives great feedback. Extremely kind. No tests, just short essays and discussion forums.

Took it for a GE humanities class. You don't need to read everything to be successful in this class. I read the minimum for discussion boards and skimmed through the chapters to do essays. Essay topics are very broad and he grades easy. He is always giving extra credit on discussions, so you'll have over an A if you try. Get ready to write tho.

Easiest class I've ever taken because I took the time to turn in the homework. There is A LOT of opportunity for extra credit, and he will let you turn things in late and work with you. Just do your homework, people! And take this class online it's a breeze.

He is the best Professor I have ever taken. Love him!! He cares for the success of his students in his classes. He responds to e-mails quickly. He expects students to put their effort. In my past english classes I never received a good grade. During the time in this class my writing skills have improved a'lot. Take him you won't regret it. :)

So I took Professor Gastil's class for summer school online based off his reviews. When I saw the syllabus I was shocked at how much work we had and was pretty scared. But he is the most leinent Professor I've ever had. He grades easy, gives you tons of extra credit opportunity and lets you re-submit assignments to get a better grade!

Professor Gastil makes history entertaining!! Its not like your High School History Teacher. He wants student participation and your opinions. Does lots of online discussions. Your tests are essays online. You can use your book and have about a week to submit. Must cite all your work. Truly cares about his students and their grade.

A lot of writing but if you use the material he gives you a good grade. Very lenient and helpful. If he knows you're struggling he will definitely help you. I surprisingly learned a lot for a pre req class. Decently easy if you just do the assignments. One of the best professors I've had.

You will learn! Even if you go into this class feeling like you have no interest in the topic, you will be surprised! Great materials for learning and understanding without too much extra clutter. Due dates are fair, as long as your work is meaningful. Do not try to submit unthoughtful work at the last moment of the grace period. Teacher is great.

I took him over the summer for History 100. It was a great experience. It was a lot of work but he works with you and answers emails quickly. You just have to communicate with him. He allows a lot of extra credit too. He understands if you can't get assignments in on time (legit reasons of course!) Good luck and don't be afraid to take this class!

Professor Gastil's classes are an "easy A", IF you are willing to do the work. He assigns A LOT of homework, but there are no actual tests, just take-home essays. He gives A TON of extra credit too! If you're willing to participate, do the reading, & write a lot, you are guaranteed an A. Second class with an A, & will continue to take his classes.
