Decent prof and a decent course. There's a lot of work and effort that needs to be put into his courses, and sometimes his expectations are unclear unless you really press him for feedback. But, overall, his courses are enjoyable.

Printmaking classes are extremely hard in process, however very rewarding. Hawken does have high expectations. He is very helpful and knowledgeable. Like any professor, he should be approached first. Very understanding and does not waste your time.
