If you have any trouble with grammar do not take this class! There is a lot a reading and one paper due each week. There are also quizzes, which are pointless, and a ten page research paper. He is a very helpful teacher if you ask for it. Every week he sat with students to help them outside of class to rewrite their papers.

Very boring teacher. Doesn't lecture at all. Just has you read in class out loud from the textbook. Then he expects you to write and essay each week from the section read in class without any guidance as to how he wants it. I found this class pointless. Nothing chicano or latino is even covered during the whole semester.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! HE IS HORRIBLE! He takes favorites from day one. All he grades your essays on is grammar, nothing on content. When you try to talk to him he is not clear and refers you to the book. MY LEAST FAVORITE PROFESSOR AND CLASS! 10 Essays, 1 ten pg research paper, 5 useless "pop" quizzes, 1 final! Avoid at all costs!

If you can write in proper English and use grammar and punctuation effectively, take this class. It will be extremely easy for you. He treats it as a "business writing" class, and there is no Chicano/Latino material. If you have trouble writing, find something else. This will be hell for you. If you write well, he'll like you.

I regret ever taking his class. He's a bitter, derisive old man who basically teaches straight out of the book. The last time I went to talk to him outside of class he basically told me to read the book without really helping me at all. He's a complete grammar nazi. Because of him I hate writing more than ever have. DON'T TAKE HIM.
