I took this class because i thought i could get an easy A but i ended up getting a D. He's not helpful at all, never reviews the material for the tests and gives you so many unnecessary names to know. On the tests, he throws in random information that was never taught in class. I like jazz music less after taking this class.

This was a great class, and this is a really knowledgable man. Starks was a pleasure to get even BAD news from and although he looks like he might be a little older, he's still smart as a whip, so don't try to put one over on him!

He thinks he knows the history of jazz but doesn't. He likes to make things up and put them on the test. A frustrated jazz musician that couldn't make it. Avoid his class at all cost.

Eh, Starks is a nice guy but his lectures can go on and on and on. His tests are equal parts of his lectures and questions he never discussed and you wouldn't know the answer to. Bring a pillow to class, sit in the back and take a nap.
