This class wasnt as bad as people make it out to be. Prof. trail is a nice guy but comes off cold and mean but he isnt! the class lectures are long and at times pointless but interesting.It is all about rhetoric which you will learn. you have 6 in class essays, 1 research paper and 1 final. i enjoyed the class and would recommend it!

AVOID...This teacher is there to hear himself talk, totally contradicts himself throughout his lectures and base them all on his own political views. You get no grade on any assignments until the very end of the semester and then it is too late to drop this class.

Trail is overly opinionated and wordy. Never gives a direct answer and his book is useless because it is an extension of his lengthy opinions. 3/5 papers so fare have been about homosexuality. If I wanted a political/ gay rights class than I would have taken one. Save yourself the stress and avoid him. Grading is not defined at all in the syllabus.

This class is very hard. If you never written a rhetorical analysis paper, then you better not take him. He wants you to write the way he wants it and think the same way he does. Very hard to understand what he wants you to write. You can't even use a lot of words that he thinks will "beg the question= BQ" Take him and you will see!!!

I took this class in 2 years ago and loved it. I thought he was really great. He was a bit of hippie but that didnt really affect my opinion, I don't think that negated his qualifications. He was really helpful, he was understanding, his lectures were entertaing. I enjoyed his class very much.

EXTREMLY LIBERAL!!! He stresses his beliefs daily. Sometimes it seemed more like a politics class rather than a writing class. He is not very clear in his teaching & expects you to analyze the writings exactly like his opinion. His classes are easy to loose interest in, especially if you do not agree with his views. I dont recommend.

I am an English major, and although I made an A, and I did find some his lectures interesting, I also thought he was one of the least caring professors in my academic career: he was smug and rude to students in class. He also was wrong in some of his corrections of my papers.

This prof. is extremely unhelpful, he never directly answers your questions, any time you email him about something in the course he tells you to look it up in the syllabus which doesnt explain anything very well. he has no real means of grading, you have no idea what your grade is until the end of the semester. He is extremely one-sided. He needs his own opinion talk show: its his opinion, his ideas and thoughts and if you don't grab HIS concept you're screwed. His book is not easy to read it's too wordy and the explainations are overdone/drawn out.
