Took CMNS 1140 online with him and everything was very organized and specific as to what he was expecting. there is a larger business proposal project but he is always available by email. Assignments are easy enough. Midterm and Final both open book. Do the work with effort and you'll get an A

Comment:

Gerald is one of the best prof at Kwantlen I have ever met. Very inspiring and provides useful feedback on assignments. Course material is also very helpful to real life situations. Definitely would take him again if he offer other courses.

Comment:

Subjective in marking written assignments, and there are a lot of them. No final exam, but a final written project worth 30%. Most of the lectures were about unimportant material, and everything probably could have been covered in one 3 hour class. However, his classes almost never went for the whole 3 hours so that was nice. Take this online.

Gerald is a very good professor. Although there are many assignments and writing tasks you have to prepare, it is worth spending time because from the feedback and comment the professor gives to you you learn a lot. His moodle is very organized and rich of resources which provide many useful tools for writing for business communication.

Gerald is a pretty good instructor. He is straight to the point, emphasizes on materials that he deems is important for students to know, and does not require getting the textbook. Although he is subjective when it comes to marking, he does provide comments which allowed me to improve my writing.

Quizzes and midterms are based on "best answer". Is extremely unclear on criteria. Marks based on his opinion. He does give you feedback on assignments although majority of the time, he deducts marks for reasons not previously mentioned. Unless you think like him, which is scatter brained you will not get a good mark.

Very hard marker. He likes to ask questions on tests/quizzes that he hasn't gone over in class and aren't in the textbook either. Marks things based on his opinion. Questions on exams are usually "Pick the best/worst answer." which answer is the best/worst is his opinion, not based on facts. Don't take unless you have to.

Gerald is very helpful and allows extra time to comeplete any task even if it was given in the first week of class he lets you finish it till the last day of class with no marks taken off. Textbook is useful only for online assignments and quizzes. Finals, quizes, midterms are all open book. He even lets you take the midterm home to complete it

Gerald Horne is not too bad like most people describe him. He's pretty easy. I admit the textbook is useless but you need it to do the online chapter quizzes. Everything is open book including midterms, finals, quizzes. He allows to give you extra time if you need it for any assignment doesnt matter what your excuse is. He wants his students 2 pass

The way Gerald teaches unfortunately hurts your GPA if you cant adapt to his style of writing. I worked hard, got to know him a bit, wrote with HIS STYLE and I ended with an A. He's a nice guy but it has to be his way. If you show up to classes and listen you will do decent. The textbook is useless other then for online quizzes.

I'm so disappointed in this class. Instead of broadening my writing skills and really trying to learn how to become a better business writer I spend all my time trying to read his mind. Disappointed with the teacher. Not helpful unclear expectations. It's impossible to do well regardless of how hard you work.
