Dr. Hoy is a great teacher that really wants to help. Lectures aren't mandatory, but highly recommended. There is a bonus for not missing class at the end of the semester. Lots of partial credit on tests. Homework every week isn't very hard.

Really really smart guy, knows his stuff. Class covers material that you must take an effort to learn. Cracks jokes sometimes to make things more fun. Good teacher.

i would advise taking at tcc or wait until he is not teaching phy 111. hes way to smart to teach this class. he forgets that this is only a 111 class not 4 and 500 level courses.

brilliant guy but just not a good prof. tests dont cover 3/4 of the material learned in class. getting A's on all your homework and labs, and doing halfway decent on the tests is only way to really pass. good luck. 9 more weeks and i never have to worry about him again. thank god

It's funny. After he heard about this site, he dramatically improved his teaching style! lol. He is a good professor now if you just pay attention just like any other science class. The trick is doing your best to learn the material DURING the class period, and of course study groups. I just took him during Spring 2005.

Dont waste your time or money. DO NOT take his class!!!! Cover sheet on tests say "show all work to get partial credit even if answer is incorrect" A total lie because half the class got below 15/100 becuase he gave ZERO points on alot of questions that should have been a lot more. I hate him.

Doesn't really explain his slides. Tests are unbelievably hard. He has to curve 30 points to get average to a 70.... Tells you to ask questions, but when you really don't understand and ask, he tells you to not ask anymore, even though its the only question you asked.

I don't know what to say. He was extemely helpful (he met with me and classmates on Sat. and Sun. morning @ 9am), but he can't relate his ideas clearly. His test are DIFFICULT, but I passed so I can't say too much. Don't take him if you are easily confused; he'll DEFINITELY kill your GPA!

RUN! GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN! He tries to explain it, but doesn't get his point across very well. Tests are impossible. He says they come from hw..and they partially do but he omits the variables needed to solve the problem.

All he does is read off the powerpoint presentation!! He doesn't explain how to work out the problems...and you're basically on your own!!
