Stats 104 is hard period. Gillian is available to go over course work after classes. If you don't put the time in, get ready to take it again. By far one of the hardest classes i've taken, but taking it with Gillian was crucial to successfully getting through it. She wants you to succeed, but it is up you do just pay attention and do the homework.

Very sweet and helpful. Everyone told me stat 104 was a really hard course, I do have to redo the course, but that is at my own fault of not doing my homework. If i had, I would have passed the course with a solid B. Everything is based off the quizzes/ assignments, so study them!

Gillian is an OK prof, lets you have a cheat sheet for every quiz/test/exam, BUT the final exam was difficult. I got 94 on the midterm but only 66 on the final..I studied and made sure all course material was on the cheat sheet, but there were questions on the exam that werent covered in class, and other questions were confusing and hard to answer.

lots of work but it forces you to learn the material. very kind and replies to emails very fast. writing can be hard to read at times. cheat sheet allowed on test/quizzes and printed notes so you can follow along and not fall behind writing things down. one of the better professors at UFV

Gillian would cancel classes with no explanation why & then cram more into an already fast paced class to make up for it. Added up my mark for quizzes wrong multiple times &marked questions wrong when they were correct giving me the wrong grade but did fix it when I asked about it. Course uses mibitab and textbook uses a different method to solve.

Everything is on the computer (Minitab) and if you write notes based on what shes doing they will become very scattered very quickly. She often goes back to change things or will leave one topic half way to teach another then come back to it. When I look back at my notes to study they hardly make sense so KNOW HOW TO USE MINITAB. Course is easy tho

Gillian is an amazing prof, especially for Stats! The secret to her class is to re-do every example she gives in class and the questions on the homework before any quiz/test! She was so helpful outside of class time, and is very adamant on making sure you understand the concepts she is teaching. If you try hard, you will do great! She is awesome!

Took this class after not doing so good with the psychology statistics course. She gives good examples and explains herself fairly well. There is either a quiz or an assignment due every Friday and the final is worth 45%. There is online quizzes worth 5%. Allowed chest sheet for all quizzes and tests. Overall good teacher.

Gillian was one of my least favorite professors I've taken at University thus far. Her examples she does in class do not match up what is asked on the online quizzes which are worth a percentage of your grade. Time allocation is not idealistic on certain in-class quizzes. Final exam is worth 45% of grade and must pass to pass class...

WORST PROF EVER! Course isn't supported properly, no notes are given, and definitely not helpful at all! She's nice till the 20th, which is when you can no longer switch classes- no words , please take my advice and take stats with someone else

Lets you have a cheat sheet, but tests are tough & the 45% final is BRUTAL cause she doesn't even give notes and the book you have to buy is pretty much useless when a different program is used in class and you're taught to do things totally differently. I heard she was tough, but being a math major thought it couldn't be too bad- BIG MISTAKE!

Does everything differently from the textbook, which is okay, but doesn't provide any lecture notes. No practice material or previous tests either to help students out for tests and the final, which is ridiculously hard. If you take her, you'll end up spending all of your time looking elsewhere for material and help.

Doesn't give any notes from stuff taught in lecture- expect to sit and take notes. Gives stuff on the test that wasn't covered in class, and then says you should have had the notes for that material. So, basically, you could get tested on anything-because there is no notes posted up

Do not recommend at all-do not take. No practice material or class notes given to help study the material for exams and overall not helpful at all- would give a 0 if possible. Online quizzes are covering material we never talked about in class, and the 45% final is brutal ! Wish I never took the course with this prof

She doesn't allow electronics to take photos of notes (its not like we're from a third world country). There is NO NOTES or teaching from her, but she expects you to know the material on a test without having taught. Quizzes are given no time to complete and the online quiz questions are completely irrelevant to the chapters done in lecture.

Her lectures completely don't correlate with the textbook material, and doesn't explain anything at all. Never around to answer questions after class either and gives online quizzes that are not covered in class that count for your final mark. Had I known better I wouldn't have taken her, would take someone else to at all costs.

I had Gillian for STAT104 and at first I was terrified of the course but she really helped! She is very clear about what you need to know for quizzes and tests and makes the work understandable! While the final exam is scary, I felt very prepared after all her lectures :)

I took two stats classes with Gillian. I really liked her - I thought her tests and marking were fair. She was also very good at stats, and was very approachable. I got B's with her, but I'm also a bio major, so that's something to consider. I think she's a solid pick for stats.
