I'm surprised when I came on here that his rating was low. He's a very sweet person. Yes he's old and shaky, but he's a great teacher and great to listen to. He also has a sense of humor.

This class is extremely dry and will be tough if you are not interested in the subject. For a CCC it requires a lot of time outside of the classroom to pass tests. Only way I was able to learn some of the material was by reading the book. Lectures are early in the morning and not mandatory which is a recipe for disaster.

Great Class. Would take again. IF you read the textbook chapters assigned and pay attention in class most of the time it's a really easy A. Professor Baird is also very willing to help if you need it.

Dr. Baird is the worst teacher I have ever had. He is extremely intelligent but explains things in ways only he understands. I think he believes that he is explaining things thoroughly but he leaves a lot out. Also extremely monotonous lectures and an odd sense of humor. If I didn't have any prior knowledge of GEO I would have definitely failed.

Professor knows his material and is probably one of the most respected teachers on campus. Although if you are one to frequently fall asleep in boring classes, do not take this class, especially in the morning. He loves geology jokes and frequently uses them in his class lecture. Beware of usually 3 attendance quizzes. Overall, very good teacher.

SO. BORING. Would not recommend as a CCC. Predominantly lectures, notes are not relevant to the tests he gives. A very nice man who loves corny Geology jokes. Unfortunately not a very good teacher.

God please save yourself and don't take this class. I took it as a first semester freshman and it just about ruined my GPA. Use the textbook if you want to pass.

Comment:
This course is not entirely on dinosaurs, there are only about 3 actual lessons on dinosaurs- most of it is rock-type science. Doctor Baird has an incredibly boring, monotone voice and the class always feels dead. He seems to address a lot of irrelevant information and only about half of what is on the study guide will be found in your notes.

Doctor Baird's voice will drive you straight to sleep. He's brilliant and obviously knows what he's talking about, but his lectures aren't really on the tests. He talks about pointless things, and never goes into depth about what really matters or what will be tested. He gives study guides, which are helpful, but sometimes notes don't help.

Great man, simply awesome. Knows his stuff, makes the best corny jokes. However, your textbook should be your best friend and everything he ever says in the lecture needs to be written down. Tests are unusual in format, but if you improve your test scores throughout the semester, he bumps your grade up. His passion for geology is unrivaled.

Professor Gordon is such a sweet guy but I don't reccomend taking his class in the morning if you aren't a morning person. I find it extremely hard to stay awake because he speaks in a monotone voice. He is super sweet, is VERY intelligent and defiantly cares about his students. He has a quirky sense of humor only some students get.

Comment:
The blandest professor I've ever had, I took moons and planets since Ive always loved space and learning astronomy, but it was the biggest mistake. random attendance, so many quizzes that counted for much of the grade but were so short if you get 2-3 wrong your grade is awful, makes the entire lecture do presentations, and a 12 page paper. Bad CCC.

He's such an incredibly smart guy, however his method of teaching doesn't work for everybody and that is what lead to my eventual down spiral in the class. You CANNOT zone out in his class for 3 seconds without missing the whole damn lecture. He doesn't give proper notes , he usually just speaks. WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING THIS GUY SAYS. EVERYTHING!!!!!

Gordon is a really nice guy, but his class is god awful. Every other day it seems like each half of students take turns on skipping class. PowerPoints are NOT helpful at all and whenever he gives you a study guide for a quiz or exam, the questions asked on the exam was not what was on the study guide. This class is not worth losing your GPA.

He doesn't know how to teach a class. He clearly knows what he's talking about, but when it comes to actually teaching us, he doesn't know what to do. The class was Age of Dinosaurs, and it's not about dinosaurs. Don't take it. The textbook is expensive and I haven't opened it once.

I think he's the funniest professor in the world because his jokes are pretty god-awful. Don't take the class too lightly because it's 1 credit or you're in for a rude awakening. Also, it's not about dinosaurs.

Unclear on what we are supposed to know for exams, only gives general ideas. lectures are more like tangents on a subject rather than highlighting key points. It feels as if you have to write down his every word. Has field trips even when the weather is bad. Very nice and intelligent man, awful teacher.
