The best professor I have had at Memorial University. Not only is this man absolutely brilliant, he is incredibly kind. Also extremely helpful. Don't be afraid to say hello to him outside of class -- he is always thrilled to speak with a student. A++++++++

A terrific prof: he's extremely knowledgeable about the subject (Shakespeare), an entertaining and absorbing lecturer, and very concerned about his students' progress. English profs don't get much better than this!

Sometimes boring as hell, but a damn good proff. He knows the subject inside and out and is always willing to help you. Sometimes he asks you something thats a bit obsceure, but nothing that you won't be able to peice together. If you can get him, DO IT!

Gordon Jones is one of the most articulate and intelligent men I have ever met in this field. I would say he is one of the greatest credits to the English Department if not the entire university. Kind and understanding, but not afraid to correct inaccuracies or to grade fairly. Look forward to Roman/Greek plays with him in the winter.

Brilliant professor. Probably the best I've had in my years at MUN. Take 3201 with Dr. Jones if you like Shakespeare; the course will make you enjoy his plays even more.

Awesome Prof! His vast knowledge of everything Shakespeare and his enthusiasm for the plays and the course make every class enjoyable! A really fair marker, wants everyone to do well in his course(s) but he's not just going to give you marks either, he expects you to do the work and be prepared for class. Loves helping & getting to know students.

I have to echo all the other comments. He's a really nice prof with an amazing knowledge of everything Shakespeare. Pretty relaxed, too. He's kind of a hard marker, but you kind of have to expect that in a third year english course. Overall, I'd certainly take another course that he taught.

Great Prof! A little obsessed with the Open Source Shakespeare site so use it. Really knows his stuff and makes sure you do the work required to get the grade, but he's pretty nice, helpful and really interesting to listen to. The make-your-own-quiz assignment was a little odd at first but, as is his style, he makes everything relevant!

He knows his Shakespeare. This mans knowledge on the subject is amazing. He really knows his stuff and in turn, it reflects in his lectures. Be warned, Do NOT slack on the reading quizes, they are worth quite a bit, are not the normal "Who did what" type of questions. Over all great prof. Highly recomend.

An amazing prof who knows his stuff and actually teaches you things about the plays! He highlights important concepts and ideas that may surface on exams. His quizzes are not as difficult as people think, you just have to pay close attention to who says what in the plays. He also gives you awesome grades if you deserve them.

Knows what he's talking about. Interesting. Not too demanding, but makes sure that you know the material before he starts talking about it (which is understandable for a 3rd year course!) I'll deffinatly be taking more classes with him!

I think this man must know everything there is to know about Shakespeare. Beware his reading quizzes (ie. making sure you actually know about the play itself, such as the dates, and not just what happens in it), but you will enjoy class with him. Very funny, very intelligent, and highly recommended.

Friendly Man. Dr. Jones' soulmate is Shakespeare. I enjoyed the plays, but in class it seemed we just summarized the material. Wasn't the most clear, and so SparkNotes helped. Overall, great professor. You Go JONES!
