Such an incredible professor. He made me love both Milton and The Golden Compass. Loved that he gave us the opportunity to take a more creative approach to the final project! Such a sweet guy with a funny sense of humor.

He might be the best professor I've had a UCONN. I took him for 3503 (Shakespeare) and I loved his teaching style so much that I also took him for this class. His classes are discussion based, and he asks questions to stimulate deeper though on the topics in the books read. There is a heavy reading load, but its also an English class.

Such an awesome professor- passionate about Shakespeare but understands that not everyone else is so his essay assignments are straightforward. Fair grader- he cares about insight and quality. Quizzes are fact based only- you can use shmoop and get an A. Offers opportunity for easy extra credit which can boost a paper grade. He's the man.

He was simply the best professor I had during my time at UConn. I was not an English major but I ended up getting an English minor while taking 3 of his classes. He definitely made me the writer I am today. Demands high quality so don't think you can just scribble out a bunch of fluff and get a B+. Challenging classes, but very fulfilling.

While he definitely expects high quality work, he is more than willing to help you. I went into this Shakespearean Lit & Film course disliking Shakespeare and I ended up loving the Bard.

Intro to Shakespeare. Semenza is the man. He's super passionate about Shakespeare and shows it. Provides a good modern context. Lots of quizzes but they're not bad if you read. Don't buy the books - they're all online.

Semenza is really passionate about the texts and he tries his best to make the class interesting and relevant. It's actually pretty boring, basically all discussion with few visual aids, but he means well. I didn't mind him, it was just hard to get motivated to attend class and he takes attendance.

I took this class because I needed to switch into something quickly and I'm so glad I did. Semenza is really passionate and knowledgeable about Shakespeare and tries to make the class interesting and relevant to students. I liked him so much that I asked him to be my major advisor 2 weeks into the class because he truly cares about his students.

I can see why someone might say****enza's cocky, but I honestly think that has more to do with his looks than anything. all you have to do is spend about 5 minutes in his office hours, and you'll see how truly interested in students he is. Can't understand anyone saying 130 is horrible. One of the most interesting classes I've ever had.
