He was a spectacular teacher. He has a quirky personality and he has the funniest outfits. He lectures for the whole hour but he makes it very interesting. The exams are multiple choice with an essay. He gives you a study guide so if you go to class and study for the tests you should be fine. I really recommend him! ;)

Prof Spinner is very very smart, and is not afraid to use words you have never heard of. Lectures had their good and bad days. He is extremely funny, but you HAVE to be in class to get a good grade. I would take many more classes with him and I am not a religion major

I enjoyed every lectures of him, had a great fun listening to how he describes other religious traditions, he says its hard to earn an A, but if you pay attention in class, don't miss any of the lectures, and are able to write a good essay in a week's time, you'll definitely get a good grade..:]

Class was all lecture. Interesting. Very descriptive in his discussions. Very knowledgable. Exams could be hard. Consists of multiple choice and essay. He gives you all the essays, you pick one, but be prepared to include all information that he asks for. All and all, a fair professor, funny at times. I would take a course with him again.

Heavy lecturer. Dresses snazzy and uses colorful, descriptive words. A bit long-winded (syllabus was more like a multi-paged essay). Gives you essay questions in advance, but there is a lot of material to cover in them. Lectures give you almost all you need to know. Pay attention and you will lack nothing. This guy is a better professor than most.

Although it was a 9:30 AM class (few semesters ago)... I rolled out of bed every now and then to watch him work his magic (note: those absences indirectly affected my grade). I'd tell you where he "hangs" but I don't want to share him w/you. HANDS DOWN the best "spinning instructor" I've ever had. Sign yourself up for this adorable funny man.

I liked the class but lecture gets boring. There is nothing other than lecture so you have to go to class. He tries to keep things interesting and he seems like a nice guy. I didn't have a lot of contact with him but the class was OK overall.

If you need a U.P. in this section take this class. It's pretty easy. You learn about 3 religions and he gives you the essay questions that will be on the test in advance. Just study the terms and pick an essay question & youll get an A.

One of the best prof's at CMU. Eccentric guy with crazy hair and ties, but he knows his stuff. Mostly lecture, but he is funny as hell. Really makes you think about your own beliefs while learning about those of others. Clarifies a lot of stereotypes about foreign religions.
