Comment:
He lectures for the whole class, except for a short group discussion. Two homework assignments per week, in which you summarize a story or article. Super picky about plain-text and the headers of emails. Doesn't tell you your grades or use canvas. If you attend class and do the homeworks it should be an easy A, but don't expect to learn much.

Professor Furr will not teach you. He'll leave class 4-5 times during the lecture for 10 minutes and just stand outside. If anything is slightly off when emailing him, he will not accept it. Does not use canvas. Only good thing is the midterm is your hw grade overall and final is taken as a class. But I have learned nothing. Stay far away.

He literally, every single class, gets off topic. I know when I walk in I'm not going to learn. Other people in world lit here are reading fairy tales, but in his class, you are reading novels about colonized people and writing papers before every class. Always due at 8 the night before and if it's not "plain text" he will send your essay back.

Prof. Furr is passionate about the subject, and what you get from his passion depends on the effort you put forth. Working in groups cuts both ways- it makes the material easier to discuss but it's a pain when half the students don't contribute. He is very specific about what is required. A kind, caring man whose class should be experienced.

He is a sweet old man, but his homework assignments as a HUGE nuisance, it feels like busy work from high school. He wasn't very helpful in the beginning of the class and he doesn't use canvas... instead its this old outdates website of his which gives me a headache to read. He a good person I'm sure... but teaching skill aren't great. Too much hw.

He's a fair professor. If you do the work, you'll do well. He requires you to read 5 specific novels throughout the semester, 5 papers, and several mini essays that prepare you for group discussions. He has his flaws-he doesn't help if you have ?'s in or outside of class and he tends to go off on tangents, but he is very knowledgeable in his field.

By far one of the most annoying professors I have ever had. If you submit an assignment even slightly off from his email criteria he won't accept it, and its the most pointless thing ever. Nice guy but definitely not worth all the busy work. Nightly homework seems very high school. If your just taking him for an elective I suggest someone else

Professor Furr was overall a good professor. He gives a lot of reading and writing work, but grades fairly as long as you do things the way he wants to. He has a lot of knowledge about the subject matter. Only complaint is he is not very helpful when students reach out to him.

Furr does not want to know his students or hear what they have to say. He never graded any of our twice weekly homework essays, never gave us any tests until the final. Zero feedback. If you send in your homework with the wrong heading he will reject it. He has his own webpage and doesn't use Canvas. He left us alone for 15 minutes most classes.

God Awful teacher! He is absolutely useless in the classroom. He doesn't teach or read what you write. His tests are impossible. He provides you with no help at all. He is condescending and has an attitude when you ask for help. He'd better if he was in Communist Russia- and so would we!

Very tough grader! If you do not read you will 100% fail. The whole class is analysis of literature. If you are not an English major and have a chance to fill your Gen Ed a different way, definitely do not take this class. But, if you are really interested in English, this class is a great start! I did learn a lot for my major!

Put us in groups and made it a discussion course. Leaves all the time. An assignment due before every class. All hw turned in on email. Will not give credit for work if the formatting is not right, even if done correctly and turned in on time. Just do the assignments and you should pass. Weather does not matter to him. Campus open class.

Furr is a sweet old man who has a lot of knowledge on the course, but he does tend to ramble quite a bit and doesn't discuss the final till the class before the exam. clear online syllabus which he updates as the semester goes on, he responds quickly to emails. Attend class, you don't really need to talk, just email hw on time, study for final

Even though I got an A I still say he is one of the worst professors ever. Never tells you what your grade is. Not available for help or to talk to students. Do the homework and you will pass but if you want to learn anything at all do not take him ever!!! Horrible!!!!!!!!!

Would frequently leave us alone in the class period. Gave us 20 minutes for the midterm. most people failed. Directions unclear. Waste of time. He doesn't believe we should be graded, but then fails half the class. If you want to fulfill credits do not take him he will ruin your gpa.

Absolutely recommend Prof Furr to anyone who has any real interest in literature! He may come off as intimidating at first because of his appearance and ivy league background but he is just the sweetest man ever. Encourages group discussion which I love. Not difficult. Homework is the main part of your grade and it isn't hard. Furr is the greatest!
