Professor De Syon truly cares for his students. Offers to wake up in the middle of the night and drive you home if youve had one to many at the bar - he puts his cell and home phone on the syllabus. Wonderful lecturer! Not boring at all. Very precise when grading essays, but I cant complain he only wants to encourage students to do their best!

De Syon is one of my favorite teachers at Albright. His classes are difficult but if you are invested in your education and are interesting in history, you will love his classes! You will have to read the book and do the homework. His teaching has enriched my college education and I look forward to taking him again.

great prof, but takes some getting used to. He's cynical, very tough on papers, but then he also begged the class not to drink and drive and offered to pay for the cab fare if we drank too much. Weird, but with a heart of platinum. Learned lots from him.

Absolutely awesome in the lecture courses. I took him for an independent study, and that got pretty intense. Don't underestimate his toughness. He yanked a friends thesis three weeks before presentation, so follow his expectations. He is the nicest guy but notices every flaw. If he thinks you don;t have it, he just says so.

This is the best history professor you will ever meet at Albright. I took his History honors class as a freshman and received an A. He answers all your questions and treats all his students fairly. You will learn so much from him! Take every class he offers.

I could not have asked for a better professor for my history gen. eds. Class work consists of 2 papers, a midterm, a final, and some map quizzes. You're given the questions to the midterm/final prior to the test and if you ask he'll outline the answers for you. Picky with papers but willing to go over beforehand. Absolutely love him.

Very nice prof,Has his rules, willing to be flexible on deadline if you've got valid excuse. Reading was way too much. What a geek! Makes up for it with really good lectures. That always made things much clear and interesting. Strict on the PDA's. Will clip you points if you check messages.

Tough coockie on the paper (that killed my grade), but decent on blue books. Gives out review sheet and conducts review session before each exam. Map quizzes ok, if it's your thing. I liked the lectures, he knows his stuff.

Great professor, hard grander but, gives a check list to make sure you know exactly what he expects on a paper, plus allows drafts. His classes are interesting, which makes you never want to miss a class. For anyone who complains about the schedule its really not that bad.Especially if you are used to history classes. Talks to you, not over you, and respects your views. Decent about extensions, but murder on the grammer and the length of the research paper. Still a good guy, and I leant a lot.

Has this "cool bean" award for the best scorers in map quizzes. A bit corny, but you actually get into it. He helps rewrite drafts, but he has no rewrite option post papers.

Good teacher. Knows his stuff. Very helpful. Likes to use his classes to express his liberal viewpoints and comes off anti-American sometimes, but if you're a college student, you probably dig that stuff.

Very knowledgeable about subject and helpful. Syllabus a little confusing and does not gade papers quickly enough to develop an understanding of what he's looking for. Also a tough grader. Very willing to allow you to submit a draft so he can give feedback before turning in a final version, but with 1 week to do papers, there really isn't time.

Does not provide feedback to explain markdowns in grade. Assignments not very clear. Very engaging teacher, but at times it is difficult to decipher what he wants from you. Did not get first paper back prior to due date for second paper to be able to gauge what he was looking for.

The structure of assignments is terrible. Instead of explaining paper assignments in the syllabus, you have to read a book, then you get the paper assignment, and you have one week to write the paper. This is fine if you are only taking one class, but I take four other classes plus I work. You are at the mercy of his scheduling.
