The human embodiment of a McDonald's Big Mac. Just go to the TA for help, hell go to anyone besides him and you'll probably have a better chance learning about the subject material.

Too much of a stickler for a 490 class. You have to dress up for presentations. Grades way too hard for this kind of class. This class is supposed to be an easy A. But he doesn't make it like that.

He is dry during lectures and gets somethings wrong but I am not sure if that is on purpose to make sure you are paying attention. I felt that it was easy to get behind. I didnt really learn much.

Advice: READ THE BOOK!!! His class and lecture slides are set up to where he uses that time to clarify what's in the book and not go super in depth on everything. People make that mistake and end up more and more confused at time went on. 3 exams, 3 group projects (2 small, 1 large). Overall, the professor was good and the class was interesting

3 tests and 3 group projects. The assignments are not that difficult in that he gives you a fair amount of help and that's usually enough to figure it out. For the tests, heavily based off lectures. While it's not mandatory to go to class, his lectures are really good and help clear up a majority of questions. Easier prof than Xie for 370, for sure

i would try to say good things about him, but unfortunately cannot. he puts very little effort into making sure the class understands. there is no final exam which is ok depending on how u look at it, but his tests are based off his lectures, which are horrible. overall easy class and the professor is amazing and motivational;10/10 would take again

Leonard knows his stuff and puts effort into making sure the class understands. 3 exams, 3 easy group projects. No final. Tests are based off of his lectures so go to class! Lenient grader and gives partial credit if you can prove your answer is valid.

Took it over summer. Leonard is awesome and makes this class pretty easy. Read the book and do problems on the study guides and you should be fine for the exams. The group projects weren't bad either. You'll have to a bit of research on some topics, but it's not too difficult.

Great professor. Took him for both 530 and 570. His assignments are all in C/C++; they're complicated but very doable. They rely on your knowledge of the subject, so pay attention in class, and your critical thinking, not everything is obvious but if you can't figure it out you weren't paying attention. Would take him for every class.

Definitely take Leonard. His lectures are well organized, and well prepared. The projects were fun, interesting, and challenging. He provides a study sheet for each test, all of which are fair and test the material well.

Truly one of the better professors at state. I've taken 2 courses with him and both were really good. Well thought out lectures & lecture slides. His goal in his courses is to make the student learn the material rather than worry about grades or project due dates. He breaks everything down so you make sense of the material. I really like this prof

Outstanding professor, crystal clear lectures. He teaches you exactly what you need to know, 3 moderate-level programming assignments which you can chose to do in c/c++/java and 3 super fair exams. His grading method is fair but his class grader usually makes mistakes so make sure you review every exam when you get it back. He doesn't curve :(

A 500-level CS class that I had very little to struggle understanding? Wow! This was my reaction when I finished taking this class. Leonard made Operating Systems a reasonable subject to understand. His projects are easy to understand and help you understand the lesson at hand. The exams are a little confusing though, and do require extra studying.

Mixed feelings towards this professor. He gives crystal clear examples and fair projects. However, his exams are quite ambiguous and confusing. But overall I enjoyed his class.

Awesome teacher! He makes the topic easy to understand. I'm surprised how much I learned in a 6 week summer class. He was very helpful and I am a student that can suck the energy out of.a teacher. He didn't mind answering all my questions and took time to make sure I understood. Fair & understanding. Very sweet man and I highly recommend him!

Great professor, made OS easy to understand in just 6 weeks. Summer session goes by really fast but you learn a lot. 3 easy programs in C/C++ & 3 exams of medium difficulty. Very fair grader, offers lots of extra credit but you have to ask for it. If you want to pass OS the 1st time, take it with Leonard instead of Carroll, you won't regret it.

He's a nice guy, willing to help students. Textbook is mandatory, test was straight out of the text. Couple of projects relating to systems you can write in java, c, c++, etc. If you read and understand the book, you'll get an A. Requires effort, but the class is required so suck it up.

Nice guy! loves humor. CS570 summer goes really fast but you will get pretty much out of it with him. 3 coding assignments are not difficult, but you have to do research on your own. Exams're not hard, you can answer by your own understanding and still get full credits.

GREAT PROFESSOR! Maybe the best i've ever had at state. Buy the book, and read, helps a lot. Programs aren't hard, but they are time consuming, start early. Tests are medium difficulty, pay attention in class and you can get an easy A! ASK for extra credit, he gives it out easily. Make sure you program partner is some reliable!
