The material was interesting. The class itself is about 90% discussion, so it all depends on the participation of the students; she sometimes struggled to spark discussions. She's nice though and seems to want the best for her students. Can be a little nitpicky about written assignments though.

Comment:

She is very boring and seems to lack an ability to engage the classroom. In a department filled with gems she is a piece of coal. The only opinion that matters is hers. Exams are fair because she makes you write a draft and revise it for a grade. However what she says in her instructions and what she actually expects are two different things.

Nice, but lectures are pretty boring... the books chosen were a bit tedious, every book had the same theme so by the end of the year it was pretty boring. Not too challenging though.

She was nice enough. However, she was extremely nitpicky. I felt like I was in high school again. Spent more time worrying about goofy things such as whether something was underlines, etc. than on more intellectual topics. We did hav some interesting discussions though.

I say this reluctantly... but she's one of the better teachers that I've had. At times the class veered towards trainwreck, but she has some innovative teaching techniques that are pretty unique, like asking us to write magazine-style reviews of books. Just don't get her mad at you.

I took her Apal. Lit course... I enjoyed the topics she discussed. There are alot of books we covered, mostly female authors rather then male... I would have liked to read some Male works but it wasnt a big deal. She grades fair and is very approachable outside class or in 1on1 meetings.

Awesome class, awesome teacher. The first day of class was spent filling the board with swear words directed toward women- she's pretty laid back! You'll read a lot of really interesting books, watch movies, and write some reactions. THE best class I've taken.
