Approachable and warm, Jin is a great professor and a unique writer (I've read "War Trash" and "Waiting"). If you don't/can't do the readings--a novel a week--I would advise against taking his course (your grade is determined by attendance/participation, 80%, and a final paper, 20%). I wish I had taken more courses in college with Jin.

Such a remarkable professor! Amazing scholar and incredibly intelligent. I took this for fun (not an English Maj/Min) and fully enjoyed it. Really opened my eyes to fiction and 20th century literature. His insight into these novels are so moving, a 3 hr class went by fast. I would definitely recommend the books we read and do read his books too!!
