Comment:

There seems to be a complete lack of a grading system. He will write down some arbitrary grade then scribble it out and write down another arbitrary grade. Participation is a major part of the final grade, but participation doesn't seem to be a factor(random). I think he just gets a kick out of exercising authority in unpredictable ways. Avoid!!!!

I took several classes with Dr. Wingfield, he is an insteresting teacher as along as you don't piss him off, you will be fine. He follow his syllabus and he will teach class in an old school method, meaning, he teaches classes by lecture no powerpoint, and there are 2 test (midterm and final) and participation.

I should've read up on here before taking this professor. His grading is VERY harsh. His "lectures" are nothing more than his personal ramblings, but he still requires attendance and his tests come from the 3 books he requires. There were only 3 grades in this class, midterm, a panel discussion, and final. Midterm and final were impossible essays.

everyone ****es bout wingfield but i've taken him for 3 classes and got 3 A's. he's easy, just listen to his -yes can be rants; can disagree but do so respectfully (he s liberal, but i'm consv. and no prob) those who **** about him aren't comfortable w/ open discussion.

He reads straight from notes with little clarification. Often goes off into rambling tangents about his own political views or health- I can say in all honesty that I've never had another Poly Sci prof mention his prostate in class. I was given the chance to take him again for a class on the presidents- I opted to not learn about the presidents.

Don't take him. Everything he teaches is taught by someone else, too. Wait for them. Horribly unclear expectations and harsh grading. Self-important and dominates the discussion, contradicting and repeating himself in the process. Mindless busy work that loses the point of the class description.

Not the most dynamic teaching style: reads word-for-word from a paper, no visual aids at all. Often goes off on tangents, expousing his political beliefs, and repeats himself. Has trouble giving straight answers to questions. But can be very funny and interesting. Both tests are essay tests plus a paper, so be prepared to write.

I can not understand the poor ratings Dr. W gets. I found his lectures to be VERY interesting. Yes, he rambles, but pay attention to him and you will have no problem. I did not find him **** or offensive- at all. He is a great teacher with a vast reservoir of information- if you don't want to learn anything new-then don't take his classes.

Be prepared to listen to this guy promote his ideals. All he does is bash republicans. but then he will turn around and bash democrats. cant figure him out but he sure does dislike White folks. He is a very harsh grader. I got ou of the class with a B but it was not worth the effort. Never take him!

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!! Nothing he talks about in class is on your test and nothing from the book is on the test. He will not meet with you to discuss improvements and will hang up on the phone with you if you call him. He is horrible and everyone walked out of his class everyday because they said it is useless. Tests are hard because you do not know what is on the test b/c he will not tell you. He stands up there and complains about his ailments and how his mother pisses him off - THATS ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

Prof. does not have good lectures, unless you count rambling as lecture. When he does give information, he reads it from his notes very quickly. Has an opinion on everything. No review sheet, only 1 essay question from a choice of 3. Gives a participation grade, but he is not consistant.

Dr. Wingfield pretty much speaks his mind on political issues but encourages you to do the same. Take notes and read the assignments you & would do excellent in his class. I highly reccommend this teacher. Automatic A or easy B if you don't work hard. You will learn SOMETHING!

Dr. Wingfield should consider the consequesnces of his classroom rants. His style leans towards militant, and his attitude is very unprofessional. He boldly states that "All white people are ****!" and seems to have a great disdain for conservative or Christian ideas. Grading is highly subjective.
