Professor Brown does not hand out grades like they are candy but if you put some effort into understanding the material and its implications (not just memorizing) you can earn a good mark. If you are having problems go to his office hours; he has a real interest in the material and will definitely talk to you about it.

A genuinely disinterested man. Frequently showed up late for class, and rarely lectured for more than an hour. Lectures were eclectic and often filled with purposely time-wasting tangents. Also seemed not to read the exams, with similar marks attained across the class with no comments on any papers

Harvey Brown (Baldy) is truly useless. Worst Prof I have encountered in uni. Doesn't care at all, gives the most random marks, and you can barely understand what he's talking about during lecture because he goes on 2 hour tangents. AVOID TAKING HIS CLASS AT ALL COST!! NOT A BIRD COURSE!!

Combative is the best way to describe him. Someone in our class asked a totally reasonable question, what is the difference between a liberal and libertarian, and he laughed at them and provided the least informative answer imaginable. I was appalled, honestly. A joke. This is why professors should have someone sitting in to evaluate.

Made the course easy enough because it was an elective for everyone. He's a bad marker and tester though. The tests/exam were pretty simple but all he does is put a mark down after reading it and he doesn't really let you know what he's looking for when he's marking them. After every test it was as if I had no idea if I got a 50 or 90.

This guy is great. I have to admit that I'm a fan of the Doctor but in all honesty the man teaches and lectures with passion. Is he a little "out there" sometimes? Ya, sure...but I would take that over a pompous prof that doesn't know how to relate to undergrads. Long live "The Harv."

Dr. Brown is my favorite prof of all time. If you get him talking about baseball he'll remember you forever. He changed my buddy's exam mark one day while we argued about the merits of the designated hitter rule. This guy is the classic definition of the university professor. I wish I had more profs that had his type of passion for teaching.

disorganized, he missed half the classes and didn't teach anything new after the first (of three) exams. the only thing i learned was his favourite excuse, "never volunteer for anything". granted, it was his first year at this course - but PLEASE better luck next time. i have no idea how i passed because i didn't learn anything.

Horrible. He should be teaching a sociology course rather than political science. I see he's teaching several courses for the upcoming year...avoid avoid avoid! While he claims to have a PhD, he's actually just an ABD. Cancelled class numerous times due to municipal committee meetings downtown. Last I looked Western paid his salary though...
