Comment:

A nasty teacher to have, exams are very explicit and memorization is key. She's insecure and her English doctorate sometimes needs stroking to appease her. Concepts are difficult to grasp, but once you do it's great. The projects at the end were absolutely fabulous fun. Terrible class for a 1st year - but mind opening in the end.

I took 201 and 320, Wonderful Proff. One of the best. She is engaging and makes class go by very fast. Her stories are halarious and at times had me in tears. She is very helpful and pleasant. Her teaching techniques are very original and creative, yet her classes are NOT EASY! But definalty worth it!

Only take a class from Tapley if you are interested in Marxism, because that is all you will learn from this woman. I got to read alot of poorly written Marxist literature, and gained a general distaste and distrust of the U of A's wst dept. Insecure prof who looks to her students for validation, and constantly attacks modern feminist values.

Tapley is the best prof! If you feel like she's tough it's cause she is. She will kick your ass, and you'll feel you're brain kicking into gear. This woman makes me use my brain! There is no way around it, you're here to learn, want an easy class? go back to junior high. also took WST 320 and 410. I would be happy to take EVERYTHING from her.

Tapley is ignorant, stubborn and pugnacious. She gives feminists a bad name, she is a walking contradiction, and does nothing but rant using manipulated facts to suit her 'arguments'. Taking a class with her would be a waste of your time and money.

Marking was not hard but rather INCONSISTENT and dependent on moods. Brilliant and witty lecturer, without a doubt. Race politics are lacking. Seemed determined to wield a phallus in her teaching style. Vicious to those who challenge her style. Could use a course in basic manners and how to get over a grudge. Pop quizzes wonderfully panoptoconic.

Tap is an awesome prof... keep in mind that you go to university to learn. You have to work hard but you learn a lot. She is also great about not playing favourites when she's marking, if you're willing to put in the work you'll do fine and have a great time

Hardest class of my academic career but I'm glad I took it b/c I learned so much.She is a hard marker and expects a lot from her students but only because she gives so much back. Lectures are engaging and she is passionate about what she teaches, making her classes so worthwhile. Having her in my 1st sem of Uni.really raised the bar for other profs

The texts for this class were awesome, Kerouac, Vonnegut, Salinger, McMurtry, but sometimes she can be a bit much. Class discussion was good but I sometimes felt more as though I was taking a gender studies course.

Heather is the best teacher I've had in my academic career. She has taught me so much and she has become a friend. She is passionate about her teachings and she brings life to academia. She is a hard marker, but she forces you to critically think outside the boundaries. I would recommend her to anyone.

Interesting and challenging. I'd love to sit in on her lectures or take her out for a beer, but wouldn't take another class from her. Too many pop quizzes, exams are very hard and she is an impossibly hard marker.Her lectures are all over the place and hard to take notes on, but interesting.

Learned a great deal. But so many pop quizzes and far too much information to properly integrate for those difficult exams. Not worth the stress and extra extra studying to keep my average up. She can also shame you if you don't agree with her ideas.
