The TA basically taught and graded everything in the class. She has no powerpoints or points of reference that coincide with her lectures, so you're basically making up the information for quizzes. She does allow you to re-do quizzes for full credit. DO NOT take her for AmStudies 801 (arts & culture gen ed) save yourself

I was absent for a health issue & tried to give her my dr's note & she wouldn't let me give it to her. You have to write an 8-10 page final paper. The syllabus said our thesis was supposed to be due beginning of November, but our entire class was behind & our thesis was due 2 weeks before the paper was due. Don't take this class. I learned nothing.

Professor Heinz was probably one of the worst professors Ive had. She is very unstructured with her lectures and her class as a whole. She does not have any type of written notes, and she goes off on tangents so intricate that you cant even follow. This is a Gen Ed, but it certainly does not feel like it. Do not take her class, it is so boring!!

I had her class for Religion in Philadelphia and it was such an easy A. Dr. Heinz is such a nice lady and hands out A's. We had no quizzes or tests and had 4 short papers and 2 longer ones. We had multiple projects but as long as you have something on your slides you will get a good grade.

Dr. Heinz is a good professor. We only had couple of papers. Our papers only had to be 1-2 pages. This class was very easy. She doesn't grade harsh.

I LOVE HER! She is such an interesting lady who practically hands out A's. Theres 4 short papers and 2 long ones but I don't think she actually grades them. The class is honestly a joke so bring homework or something to do because there are a lot of boring group projects that no one really wants to listen to. Take this class if you want an A.

I had Professor Heinz for U.S. History to 1877. My biggest complaint is that her lectures were very unstructured. She did not use a single powerpoint all year and spoke from a collection of notebooks. That made it difficult to keep my notes organized. Majority of the grade is based on papers and the final exam is not required if u did all the work.

Very easy! Gives help when needed! Only requires you to write 3 out of 4 papers. Occasional open note pop quizes. Group Projects and presentations that are really easy! If you have an A you don't have to take the final!

There are four papers, but you only have to do three. You do group projects covering each president. She is very knowledgeable. She is a VERY easy grader and if you don't do well, then you can redo the paper. Occasional pop quizzes. Book only needed for papers.

I really don't understand how anyone could not get an A in this class. She lets you re-do anything, and her expectations aren't that high to begin with. A little lazy in her teaching style though, especially if you actually want to learn about Philadelphia.

She is a wonderful teacher. She does not teach from the book, though all material is in the book. Lively discussions in class and presentations are required. Her quizzes and exams can be tough if you do not read the material in addition to going over notes. She is a VERY GOOD PROFESSOR. I highly recommend her classes.

I'm so happy I took this class! If you grew up in Philly, you'd be shocked by what you learn (if you didn't, it's still fascinating). She truly loves history, class is pure lecture but interesting.

Great class! Go to class, take the notes and you'll be fine. The quizes/tests are open notes and she gives u a study sheet ahead of time. Trip reports are easy. The paper/presentation is simple, just pick something easy and get it in on time. If u have an A, ur exempt from the final. its easy to get an A

Wow Helen is my Hero! She has 10 kids and is still managing to get her PhD! Good for her! She is also an amazing teacher who knows her stuff. She is willing to reward the class if they read by making the quizzes fewer and easier and NO MIDTERM AND FINAL! Also the trips are interesting and worth doing. Take the class before she gets her PhD and goes
