He's very intelligent when it comes to differential equations. Not so much though when it comes too teaching it. His hand writing is hands down the worst I've ever seen. All he really does is read from his online textbook notes, word for word. Math 201 is already a hard course, and having this professor definitely doesn't make it any easier.

Not sure why this prof gets so much hate. If you show up to class, pay attention and supplement your learning with the online textbook then the course is not so bad. Dr. Van Roessel is brilliant when it comes to Differential Equations.

He goes over the content a little bit faster in class. Although he explains a lot of hard questions in class, the final was esay overall. The midterm was a bit harder than final but overall the exam was easy. If you have a solid foundation of calculus, you will find it easy in his exams. The homework questions were so difficult.

Math 201 is already hard but it would be A LOT harder if you take him as a prof. He basically reads off his notes online so there's no point to even come to class. My piece of advice is to avoid this prof at all cost.

One of the worst profs I've ever had. He expects everyone to be math experts, and simply copies out his online notes in class without filling in the many important steps he skips in them. His teaching was atrocious and he was condescending and confusing when questions were asked. He will not teach you anything! AVOID!

Honest opinion: a fine prof. Even though there's the popular complaint of his atrocious writing, it's easy to follow along in class if you print out his TYPED online notes which are identical to what he's writing out in class. The concepts covered won't be any easier if you were in another section. Also went to office hours: very helpful and clear!

The class average was 1.5. He is a terrible professor and I had to teach myself the class. One of the worst professors ever had.

He's fine, but he moves way too quickly and you can barely read his writing. You'll be teaching yourself most of the course. Google's you friend.

Henry is extremely hard to follow, and I left his class more confused than I entered, especially when I read the material before class. Strong recommend against taking his class, you will be at a disadvantage to those in other classes. Homework is extremely difficult and unrelated to lecture examples.

Dr. Van Roessel posts all his notes online, making it very easy to review concepts you didn't grasp in lecture. His visual proofs/explanations really help solidify otherwise tough concepts. His dry sense of humour makes class enjoyable. Overall a great prof for 209 in my opinion

He is ok when you ask him questions, does not speak clearly, does not respond to emails, and super hard grader. He only grades your solution on up to where you made a mistake, and then they stop grading your solution. A small silly mistake costs you a lot of points!

I only went to the first week of his lectures and his teaching was lack luster. I ended up going to a different section that was much closer to my other classes and had a better lecturer. It isn't that Dr. Van Roessel is necessarily bad, but there are a lot better profs that teach this course.

Dr. Van Roessel is at best an ok prof. He mumbles and has atrocious hand writing. Always seemed rushed and covers a lot of theory. Dry sense of humour made class more fun. Exams are mostly like in-class examples, and homework was decent. Online notes and textbook are definitely your friend! Lots of self-teaching required. Overall not recommended.

This class wasn't that great. I love math, but he only teaches mostly theory and not enough examples in class. Mumbles a lot, and writes too fast for us to keep up. Not the best.

Absolutely the worst prof ever. Cant hear anything he says because he mumbles to himself while teaching. His writing is terrible, and 98% of his lecture is theory which is completely useless in terms of completing assignments and for exams. The only good thing about him is that he can draw really good 3-D graphs. drop his class/attend another

His thoughts and work is very scattered and unorganized. Spends too much time on theory and his notes are not that great with poor examples. Assignments are long and difficult, however he will help you if you ask him about it. Only positive note about him is that he follows the notes word for word, so going to class is not necessary.

To be honest, I have no idea how good this guy is, mostly because you will hardly EVER understand his handwriting. It seems he talks to himself while giving lecture. And once more his handwriting is absolutely HORRIBLE!
