He tried to make us go to an unscheduled recitation each week and I watched him rant for at least 5 minutes in front of a lecture hall once about a kid who took a calculator out of his bag for an exam by accident. I will never understand why this was an entry-level class. It was very difficult and lectures were extremely boring.

Teaches material not covered in the book, and not appropriate for entry level classes.

He goes over so many topics and rambles a lot about the same thing. Sometimes it's hard to take notes on what he's talking about since he keeps going off on a tangent. He talks really fast too. Nice thing is that he does a lot of examples on the board, so you can copy them. The homework sometimes is a lot harder than the examples he gives in class.

Dr. Quirmbach is highly qualified and can be a bit of a stickler when it comes to participation in class, but he definitely teaches good material. This class made me decide to change my major to Economics. Tip: go to the optional recitations if you want, but the real benefit is past exams on the website and lectures.

Very easy class overall. If you show up and do the problem sets you'll get an A. People that complain are just not up for a class like this. I easily earned an A by just doing exactly what he says.

Quirmbach is very educated on the topics he teaches, but he teaches expecting a bunch of, usually freshman, students to keep up with his knowledge. He makes this course a 400 level class when it should just be a 101. I would recommend you try and switch. I'm an engineering major and this was my hardest class and it was suppose to be my easiest :(

Not many points are given in this course. Tests are extremely hard, and some contain topics that were barely touched on during lecture. Extremely hard homework assignments that can be very frustrating. Takes lots of time and effort.

Go to the optional recitation, the TA's do a much better job of explaining the material than he does. He WILL go into random political tangents that do not have anything to do with the material. You can do well in his class, but you have to teach yourself and really utilize the previous tests to study off of.

DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM. He is the worst teacher. He makes a 100 level class seem like a 400 level class. He has pop quizzes weekly. He curves his test but they are still impossible. If you take a class with him.. lol good luck!!

Do not take Professor Quirmbach for Econ 101. He is a very knowledgable guy but cannot translate that wisdom into understandable language. Horrible class. Really have to teach yourself to do well.

I'm not the best at econ to begin with. However, I did not like his notes/teaching style. Very vague notes. Goes out of book, so if you have the motivation to read the book you'll be better off. He offers practice tests before each test, but he's still one of the tougher professors.

Only grades 2 midterms and a final. Taking notes will not help you, he makes this introductory course way harder than it needs to be.

This dude makes your life way harder than it needs to be. Taking notes and paying attention in class will seem pointless when you start the practice exams. He doesn't know how to teach to an INTRODUCTION level class and assumes that everyone knows the material. If you want to take Econ then get a different professor.

Worst class ever. Teaching advanced Econ to an introduction class. The lectures do not help with anything involving homework or exams. Get out now while you can

Terrible dry lectures, Slept through half of them. Lecture doent really help on exams. Random pop quizzes beginning of lectures. The ECON help room saved my grade. Guy is a smart dude, not a good teacher. Explains it like he is talking to other Phd Economics professors

This is one of the easiest class I've taken. He allows you to have a cheat sheet for each exam. He had an optional recitation that you could go to an automatically get a 100% on the homework for an hour of your time. The only "studying" I did for the exams was going to class, writing everything down on the board and making the cheat sheets.

Don't take this class with him. Yes, he curves but not as much as you think. I decided to stay in his class because of the curve but still ended up with an F. He is not helpful and is by far, the worst teacher I have ever had.
