I had SPN102 and SPN221 with her. Got an A in 102, F in 221. My suggestion is: If you are taking this for your foreign language req. (and you need a sequence of two), take a sequence that is within the same level. i.e. SPN101/SPN102 OR SPN221/SPN222. This class will take up a lot of your outside time, especially if you are non-native speaker.

She is very knowledgable in the subject, but she explains everything in Spanish. She can be rude at times and expects more from you even if you aren't very good at Spanish. Quizzes and tests are hard if you don't study, and the Aventuras homework is the most annoying thing ever. Don't take it with her unless you know what you're doing. Even for 101

Many group projects in this class. Participation is a must! She makes an extreme effort to help everyone and does not make you feel stupid if you are wrong! So don't be nervous about talking in class.

She truly cares about her students, makes herself available and is a very easy-going professor. Completing homework is crucial to succeeding in this class, especially studying the vocabulary. She offers extra credit a few times per semester, usually for attending a Spanish club event. 10/10 recommend. Possibly the easiest SPN 102 of them all.

Dr. Chacon is a wonderful person, an extremely intelligent woman and an amazing professor. She loves her job, she cares about her students and she motivates them with super interesting lessons. On top of this, I love her sense of humor. She is definitely my role model as a woman as well as a professor. In short: Dr. Chacón es la reina de los prof!

Dr. Hilda Chacon was an astonishing example of professor. She would help you if you need. She would always joke around in class but never pass the limit. She presents extremely interesting topics and students are required to work with books as well as with videos, songs, documentaries, pictures and if lucky, even live performances.

I had this professor a few years ago. She's AMAZING! To those of you that hate her and call her evil, why don't you start thinking instead of just digesting what the American media teaches you. She doesn't hate the United States, she just knows the value of CRITICAL THINKING, something you should do if you plan to attend grad school.
