Make sure to read the book and go to class. He is pretty clear but makes you use the iClicker thingy which I hate so much. Personally, I liked his class.

I had him for COMP 228 and 229 and I never missed any lecture but because the subjects of this course was very lame, I never learned anything from both these courses. I tried very hard to pay attention to what he was trying to explain but still wouldn't get anything. Not the best and not the worse professor in the dept of CS at Concordia!

Comment:

Great teacher. People who complain and get low grades never attend class or don't listen to him. Computer science are lazy and expect everything to be easy and slack off. Compare him to other teachers and you will learn more from him. Assignments are brutally long. Gives good lectures and examples. EXTREMELY FAST EMAIL RESPONSE!

Everything I learned in this class, I had to dig from the book. Dr Li assumes you have read the material prior to classes. His accent makes him hard to understand at times. All his questions are vague and poorly worded! Also, expect to have to learn NASM on your own. However, he was helpful when I asked him for clarifications.

This is hard course!!!!! But he's a good professor and he's doing his part pretty good. Do the assignments and you should be ok. Stresses programming (marie and nasm) (among other things) on the final and in general the final's quite long but midterm and quizzes are easy...

He's unclear, notes are HORRIBLE and very unhelpful. If you go to him for help he'll yell at you and say he taught that in class already. DON'T TAKE HIM! Although I didn't like the suprise quizzes that make you attend every class, they were quite easy. Midterm was ok, final was HARD. DON'T TAKE!

His notes are full of mistakes which will haunt you on final. Has a condesending attitude if you ask for help. Won't provide clear answers. Assignments unfairly divided, expect to be a NASM pro. I pulled an A+ with A LOT of work. If ur an avg student, expect to scrape by otherwise study like hell.

This is a really bad Prof. His courses and exams are so confusing; morewove, he is very unhelpful.For example, the first thing he does is that let you know how stupid you are, when you go to ask him questions. He will say "How can you ask this kind of question which I taught in class". Be careful!!!

Considering this is a course that just switched from Windows to Linux and has no book or real notes, I think Dr. Li does a good job (or at least better than others) in teaching it. The exams and homework are all tolerable, and the tutorials were an excellent complement to the course.
