History of Rock and Roll online. His test are really really hard. I worked my butt off for that A. Be prepared to read the textbooks and take notes. This class was surprisingly harder than calculus 101B with Smedfjeld. Not even going to lie.

Comment:

This class in the music of the 1960s was the best online class i had at ohlone. The instructor was hard but fair and the readings were excellent, while the tests were challenging they were fair. This is a great class with depth and interesting material.

I don't recommend this class to anyone. It's not hard, but it's rather tedious and 100% self-paced, and involves a lot of writing. The books are also expensive. There are 16 tests with 2-3 essay questions each, and the finals have more. I didn't have two of the books, but still got an A but a lot of the material is exclusively in the text.

One of the worst online classes I've ever taken. Tried contacting the professor on many cases about things unclear on a test or in this modules and always received the same ("Please read the book.") answer. 3 text books that he requires for the course are ones that he wrote and I must say spending $200+ for these text are really a waste of money.

There is a lot of reading but its not that hard of a class. Each week read the online lecture, take notes and then read a chapter or 2 from 1 of the books he assigns and then take the tests. The tests consist of multiple choice and 1-2 short essays from the reading. If you dont procrastinate you will pass the class. Thats it for the whole semester.

Easy A. Dr. DeWitt very cool, well traveled man with stories. Read the books, do the worksheets and make sure you email him with questions. I took the self-paced class and was unable to complete the midterm, he let me finish it on the day of the final. Summation - easy A, cool prof.

hmm, so i took his online class and didn't have too many problems with it. there were some errors with the quiz, which i told him about and he was glad to fix them. as long as you review the notes, the quizzes aren't too bad. you just need to stay on top of it as this is an online class.

k.This Professor is ridiculous. He has you write these pointless essays and no matter how well you think you did, if he doesnt agree hell mark you down. For the multiple choice part you just Google the answers. But its only worth about half of your grade. His final is 10 essay questions a multiple choice.Dont take this class it will ruin your life.

The most frustrating class I ever took. His grading on essays is ridiculously harsh and biased. And who is he to criticize our writing? His books sucked. His writing is unstructured an there are so many typos in the books it drove me insane.

I agree with a lot of the comments here. The class is kind of easy, but very boring and pretty much useless. You learn very little rock history, and his books cost $120 and they suck! He also grades the essays kind of hard. I don't recommend this class, instead go to Borders and find a book about a band you like, by a professional writer.

The online class is ridiculously difficult, yet pointless! Quiz every week, with an "essay". Books aren't even needed as the quizzes use material from the lecture notes. He posted ONE comment to the discussion board the whole semester. Don't recommend taking this class!

Self paced class. NOTE: Listen to tapes: know WHO made WHAT song and WHEN and the TYPE of music they made and also who influenced who. As for books, notes not needed. literally, just know the main ideas, don't have to know every tiny detail. SAMPLE Question- why is this guy important to the Beatles. Sample #2- how did this guy influence that guy.

I took this class online and it was easy. He completely rips you off, he makes you buy his books that he has written for the class and you never use them. They were the most unorganized books i have ever tried to read. Always a written response on the test and for the week activity. EASY CLASS but a waste of time!

well at my last semester at ohlone, i took history of rock..THis was my 3rd class with mr dewitt, and he is one hell of a guy..one of the funniest and entertaining people ive met, and by far best teacher at ohlone(Him & G Rodgers), if he offers any courses take him, and u must meet him cuz he is a character. i will truely miss him! hes a great guy.

Mr. DeWitt is one heck of a teacher!! Very fun w/ some KEWL stories to tell!! Wish I took his Rock n' Roll History Class, that would have been fun!! But just as well, I had a great semester in his class. Kept the students very interested, but then again, he would be bold and tell students to up n' leave if he saw that you weren't interested. *lol* Overall...2 thumbz up!!
