Dr Hammer isn't as bad as these reviews. With that being said, you do have to work for the grade. Reading the chapters are a must for this class. There are Aphlia assignments to complete and one group project. The group project lasts about four weeks and it is pretty detailed but it is manageable. There are 4 tests that are you need to study for.

Hammer is horrible! His tests are extremely hard and don't follow the lecture at all. I advise you to not make the same mistake I did; take a different professor. Even if you have to put this class off for another year, do it. You'll thank me later.

People are honestly SO over exaggerating. Dr. Hammer is a really good professor, he knows what he is talking about, you will learn a lot. There is a lot of homework in this class. If you don't want to put in effort don't take this class. He really makes you work, but you learn SOO much. Its all about the time you put into it.

Hammer is a really nice guy. His lectures are pretty boring and usually straight from the book. If you read the book and attend class and put in the work it should be a pretty easy pass.

Comment:

Hammer is tough professor, however, with full participation in this class you can do very well. I took this class online and he did have lectures that required lecture notes but his homework assignments and quizzes were exactly what the lectures and readings covered. He gave a lot of extra credit and had a tough case study but made the class great!

Hammer is the rudest, most careless professor I have ever had. He doesn't care about any problems that you are having with his curriculum. One time, Blackboard crashed on me and he wouldn't let me retake his assignment because "He didn't see how me finishing it would help my grade". He makes everything your fault. Plus he is boring.

He gives you so much work each week, hours of lecture videos to watch. You have to give detailed lecture notes for each video, sometimes you have four a week, you also have quizzes each week. He is a super hard grader and his instructions are very unclear. He acts like you are bothering him if you email him. Highly recommend not taking him!!

He is awful! You have several hours worth of videos to watch perweek and you are required to take notes and ask "questions" in your notes (Mind you he sits and lectures and if he is lecturing clearly there should be no need for dumb questions, and you never get an answer on these questions that you're supposed to ask). Gets mad if you contact him.

Despite the low numbers that I gave him and others on this page, he really isnt as bad as he might seem. You will have homework due before EVERY class, two different reviews for a grade before each tough exam, and a case project that is intimidating. But staying on top of everything and getting Cs on the tests still got me a B+. It's manageable.

Hammer's lectures are old and tired. He often berates students and doesn't realize how cruel it comes across. I would avoid taking the class, but if you can't it isn't a big deal. Keep up on the HW, come to class, keep your head down

Lectures were long and boring, and he includes alot of ambiguous test questions. He assigns a long paper that isn't required by the other professors and sets unrealistic standards for it. Do not take his class if at all possible.

Professor Hammer was a lawyer for a long time, and in consequence, can be an absolute jerk. He's very closed minded, penalized me for technical issues on the homework website, and announces things in class poorly. For example, he'll wait until students are leaving to begin announcing all the things that are due soon.

I actually really liked Hammer's class. He is a reasonable guy and helps you as much as he can if you take initiative. I got an A just by doing the homework and trying hard on the final paper. It was a deceptively easy class.

The case project that Hammer assigns is not a myth. However, it is not as bad as some people will tell you - just takes time. His tests however, are as hard as people will tell you. If you have the choice between Hammer and another BL260 professor, I would go with the other; but Hammer is no reason to avoid taking BL260!

Gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. Case problem takes lots of work! However, if you have an 820/1000 before the final you don't have to take it. Not my favorite class, but not as bad as everyone made it out to be.

took this class online over summer while taking another class and interning full time, ended up having to drop the other class and cut back hours working bc of this course. Forces you to participate, but you do learn a lot. Dont take this if you dont have a lot of time to commit to it. HW and quizzes weekly, tests are proctored and case study too.

Worst class I've taken! I'd take math before this. Very specific instructions he doesn't tell you. Online class, requires lectures, notes, quizzes, etc every four days like it's your only class. Not helpful with anything, except making you feel bad for not knowing what he expects.
