It is good to read the chapter before the next class meets. If you take Econ 1, make sure you read the first chapter. Every week, he assigns a worksheet that can be worth up to 20 points and these questions are based from what I read in the chapter. Do not be afraid to speak up to what you do not understand, Shahidi is a knowledgeable man.

I love this man. I actually looked forward to going to class because it was so informative. Reading the book is a must if you want to succeed. Show up to class especially if you only have this class one day out of the week. He will go to the ends of the earth for you to answer a question so ask questions. Sometimes lets you grade your homework.

Professor seemed very knowledgeable about his subject and explained things pretty clearly. Stay on top of the homework or you WILL be lost. Be honest and upfront with him if you are having a hard time. Show up in person for final and he will meet one on one with you and go over your grade. He works with you to catch up on missing assignments, too.

This class was very challenging for me. I chose not to read the book like we were assigned to do, which ultimately caused me to earn my first B at COD. READ, if you don't, the tests will be very difficult. The class is all lecture (no powerpoints). I found it hard to stay focused when he just talks all class with no visuals (just whiteboard notes)

Dr. Shahidi was great! He did his best to make the course interesting, and was very helpful. One day he even drove down to add me into the class! Very caring about students, and will offer help at any time to anyone who asks for it. Make no mistake, it is not an easy A, but he does his best to help you succeed. You MUST read the book to pass!

If you take the time to read the required book, which isn't too bad of a read, then Dr. Shahidi's lectures will simply embellish & clarify. If you don't read, and are oblivious to the world, then his lectures will seem confusing. He loves participation and is prone to tangents. He is also very flexible on assignments and will help with problems.

Professor Shahidi is everything a college professor should be. He is engaging, knowledgeable and helpful. He actually makes the subject matter relevant to the world around you and your life. I wish I had more economics classes to take so I could take more of his classes. If you have a chance to take his class, do yourself a favor and sign up.

A little confusing on instructions, but will email you good clear directions if needed. Same work every week; read a chapter, write a review, take a test and write a current event. Got a little boring but I kind of liked at the same time, 70 question online final.

If you want to learn about Economics, this class is for you. If you want to show up and pass, this class is not for you. The discussion is often much more broad than the subject matter, and gets into the relevance of economics on the world, and our lives. He is really good at clarifying ideas, but will call you out if you show up and stare blankly

I took Shahidi for the most recent winter semester (3 week hybrid class). He can come off a little rude but he knows his stuff. He loves people asking questions and always stops to ask everyone if they understand the material or if they need something explained a little more. He has quizzes for every chapter and had 2 discussions.

The amount of effort you put into this class definitely pays off. If you don't try, or just don't care your grade will probably reflect this. Speak up if you have questions and Shahidi is great at clarifying or working with you to help you understand. I had a great semester in Professor Shahidi's class.

This guys is GREAT! I have no idea why there are even some bad rates on him. He is clear, helpful, and funny. Whenever you need help, he does not mind holding back the lecture for a bit to get you caught up which helped me a lot! Tests are posted online and you decide whether if you want to search them on google or not (would not recommend it).

Dr. Shahidi is a rare teacher. His belief in the importance of everyone having an understanding in economics comes through in his lectures. His testing based on conceptual understanding of the subject is something I wish was required by all teachers. Just a brilliant experience.

He gives you the same assignments every week but for different chapters. When you email him he doesn't really bother responding, and he is a slow grader. However, if you do the assignments it should be a fairly easy A.

This class involves a lot of reading and understanding but you'll end up learning a lot from Prof. Shahidi. Loved his topic discussions on the political and sociological world with Economics. The homework is all online and relatively easy. Lots of in class handouts with group activates. I highly recommend him for any Econ class.
