What is the deal? Dr. Johnstone is so cool. He moves things along at a good pace, does lots of examples, never slips up. Very intelligent man. No problems staying awake in 111.

In all honesty, I debate attending every one of his lectures because in the end I won't understand what he is talking about and will just learn it on my own from the textbook. He may know what he is doing, but there is no way that he can effectively let his students know what he is doing.

Definately does not enjoy teaching. His attitude is one of "let me get this done so I can leave". He genuinly appears to get angry and flustered when questions are asked and he does not get to copy examples from a sheet of paper onto his blackboard. He does not give suggested readings, or notes (beyond 6 pages for the entire year). Simply Horrible.

He simply doesn't seem to care about his students. Horrible webCT resources, confusing lectures, and an arrogant attitude all sum up to produce a BAD PROFESSOR. I don't doubt he knows his stuff, but as a teacher, he's pathetic.

Im sure this guy could be a good teacher if he wanted to, and was back in the day. Nowadays, he does not answer questions in class, or give you time to follow alot of his jumps in logic on the board. Honestly, I enjoy his class. He keeps the problems at a level that continually challenge you but are "do-able". The midterm exam this year was not that bad when you review it once again, the first question is extremely straight forward and the second question was from a similar exam from previous years. For those that do poorly, blame yourselves
