After taking his course, my perspective on success and life changed. Every lecture, I learned something eye-opening and could easily apply the material to my life. They were interesting, informative, and inspirational. If you want to improve yourself and take a course that serves you, look no further.

Would not recommend. The lecture notes were provided so that was helpful, but the cost was reading a poorly written textbook on the topic. The course itself is all over the place with minor assignments that are meant to pull your mark down rather than give you a chance to show how much you know. Save your money - take another course!

Not an easy fly-through class, but I found the class incredibly interesting. Professor is clearly passionate about his work and I personally learned a lot from the class. Recommended.

The course was not difficult if you read the course notes. He provided these which saves students some money. Overall though, I don't feel that he does a good job being a 'teacher' - he doesn't follow through with inquiries about content, doesn't have office hours -you have to wait to speak to him after class as other students do. Lacks direction.

Difficult course, but I absolutely loved it! I don't understand why people think he didn't care about his students: he wrote notes to follow + the textbook. He also stayed after class to talk to students for up to an hour. I think he's a genuinely a nice person and if you're into self-improvement, you should take this course. GO TO THE LECTURES!

Content isn't hard - if you've done readings. What irks me is that, in total, there are 17 assessments! Something due each week. Late penalties for one day 30%! It also feels as if it's the first year it's being offered - disorganized! Bottom line: this course takes more than it gives back. If you can keep up, you'll do well. Ian's nice but flaky

One of the worst psych courses i have ever taken. He's a good guy but there is so much work for this course and so little payoff (as in grades). Lecture notes are boring and confusing. Assignments are tedious and time-consuming. Would not take again. 5 assignments, 1 final assignment, 5 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final. enough said, would not take again

Quite possibly the worst prof I've had in university. He's enthusiastic but has no idea how much time it takes to do assignments. The lectures are disorganized and he doesn't post lectures and readings until 3-4 days after the lecture, despite assignments/quizzes due weekly. Most of course is focused on his own research.

This course is a lot of work, there is a quiz or assignment every week. I think he means well but doesn't realize how much work this requires. Overall I did learn a lot from the course.

It is the most tough I have ever had at Waterloo! FIVE quizzes and FIVE 600 words assignments! plus a midterm and a final. plus a 2400 words final assign. Class average is around 60. No books, unorganized slides. the readings he gave us is not even logical. I can get 90+ in biology and other psych courses, but for this? No comments

Can't complain. This guy was amazing! Great lecturer and quizzes were easy if you did the readings. You will have a quiz and assignment every other week (it alternates) along with a final essay. 5 quizzes and 5 small assignments and he chooses I think the best 8. For us it was 6/9 because of the strike. Oh and there's no textbook he made readings

My experience was that his classes were shallow overviews of the material. Talked a lot about his own research, which was not very original or insightful. He's not that bad--it's very possible to do well in his class. But, there are many other good profs in the department, I wouldn't waste my time and money in his class.

A good Prof. who loves teaching and is very understanding towards students. Very engaging in lectures, definitely passionate about the subject. Be prepared to put in the work since there's either a quiz or assignment due every week. Quizes are all easy MC, assignments look easy but the TA marks hard even when you follow the provided instructions.

AMAZING!!! He is by far my favorite prof at York so far. Psych majors, you will love the syllabus! He is very passionate about the course. Waking up for his 8:30 lecture is very worth it, and I am not a morning person!

Probably the most unusual course I've taken at York, and agonizing to say the least. The 8:30 AM class was a miscalculation on my part, I would rather suffer through 2 midterms and a final, than multiple papers & 8:30 AM anxiety laden quizzes. However, you learn a lot about personality. No text book, but online readings and the prof is animated.

Great prof, the fact that you can drop some of your marks if they're too low makes this class great. course tests are divided so you have a better chance of getting god grades. every week there is either an essay due or you have a quiz. easy A if you attend the lectures and do the readings. the essays are short and easy so are the test. Fun prof.

No textbook! Alternates every week with either a quiz or a short written assignment due online (each worth 10%) based on readings that aren't cumulative for next quiz/assignment. Fun, informative lectures. Final essay is "what did you learn". Breakdown: Best 8/10 quizzes or assignments (80%), final essay (17%), research participation (3%)

I would recommend this class to everyone! It was very interesting and fairly easy as long as you keep up with the readings, that he writes himself (much easier to understand and follow along). If you don't want to read them, you just have to attend his class where he presents them. The quizzes/short answer questions were easy! I loved the class!
