Dr. van Tets is a fantastic lecturer. He keeps it very interesting with great jokes sprinkled in. He knows SO MUCH and sometimes will go down the rabbit hole. Tests are based on his lectures. I haven't opened this book. He does record the lectures, but it's probably best to go to class anyway. There is one paper. Do not procrastinate on it. Some EC

Having IVT as an instructor is a great experience. Always helps. Tests are 1/3 MC, 1/3 SA, 1/3 essay. Final is exactly twice the volume of his THREE semester exams. Exam material is straight from the lectures (great PPT), but it is imperative to study all material because some of the stuff can get a little nuanced. Keeping pace is a must.

He teaches module 1 of this course. Pretty hilarious. The course uses clickers for points, so you cant skip lecture, but the lectures themselves are quite painless if you dont mind powerpoint and simple note taking. He's pretty nice, so ask him any questions you have. Difficulty rating is based more on lab- he doesnt grade anything except clickers

If anyone loves biology, it's Dr. Van Tets. His enthusiasm for the material he teaches is palpable in his lectures, and is one to take time aside to help you go through whatever questions you have. Definitely would retake!

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Van Tets is such an awesome professor. He's very passionate about biology, which makes his lectures that much more interesting. The tests are based off of the powerpoints, and the homework assignments are very do-able. We need more professors like him at UAA.

This teacher is great! He knows a lot and loves biology. If you don't study very hard, you won't do very well because you cant just get by. However, if you apply yourself and memorize a lot of the material, you'll be fine because he gives you everything you need to succeed in the tests. Great class!

Ian is a professor who is passionate about what he teaches. He makes jokes throughout the lecture and is very clear in his explanations. His tests are hard, but if you use the practice test and really apply yourself and study hard, you'll do great! He made me like biology again!

He is a solid professor who doesn't rely on the book to teach the class for him. Lectures are somewhat entertaining and packed full of useful info. He is very knowledgeable and clear--I learned a TON! Attend class, take good notes, and study hard for the tests.

Lots of thing to remember in this class not an easy course that you can cruise through but lots to learn. Professor is awesome. REALLy nice to converse with when you need help and always (i mean always) there, when you ask he is available.

Ian is very helpful if you have time tdo see him. His tests are mostly based off his partice tests that he hands out about a weeke before his tests. if you alone just memorize the pretests you will get a C on his real test. All his lectures are power point that are avialbe online you do have to write a major -10 page paper for this class

The previous rater must have been in a different course. This professor is one of the most helpful and approachable on campus. He was always there when I went to his office hours. He always helped me. I would recommend his courses to anyone.

This Professor wastes time. He knows alot about the suject, but seens to care more about language than he does about science. He never gets papers back on time. His tests are easy, but gosh...you'd think with all the money he gets paid he could at least be available for office hours and grade papers. Waste of time.
