One of the best I had at TWU Richmond. Made class great experience. Very life changing thoughts, make me think deeply about life and future. Wish I could take more with him.

Ivan is by far, one of the best instructors in the Lower Mainland. After taking the book of Proverbs with him at PLBC, my life has changed. He is a man of godly character, humility, and wisdom. We even invited him to speak at our church! If you are taking a course with him, get lots of sleep beforehand because he is lecture-heavy (but they good)!

Ivan was one of the best profs I've had at TWU. He made the book of Revelation come alive for me. Never forgot that he said it was called Revelation, not Revelations. Loved the course, loved Revelation and learned tons. Look forward to more classes with Desilva.

Comment:

Don't have any idea what previous student meant. I took Desilva's course in 2014 and loved every minute of it. I would take more if I could. He is one gifted teacher who can show you things that will make you go "Wow!" I had been a fairly nominal Bible reader but after this class, my desire for the Bible has gone ballistic. Love the guy.

He rambles unnecessarily for the entire allotted time and often runs over time. He loves the sound of his own voice. He does NOT allow for other opinions. He disregards questions as if you are blatantly wrong. He did not answer any of my emails and marked extremely harsh! Also, 10 page papers for RELS 102?? and RELS 250?! Way overboard.

Favourite professor of all time. His class was so good I even took the classes he offered out of his church. He's extremely knowledgeable and will inspire you to read the Bible in a way you never have before. Go narrative criticism!

Very fascinating prof, passionate and certainly knowledgeable. But understand the classes are VERY long, and if you have a short attention span like me it's very trying. Tests are multiple choice, are hard but doable if you study. Be prepared for three solid hours of lecture. Sometimes we went late, too. But if you pay attention you will learn

Claims what he says his only his opinion, but is very adamant that it is the right opinion. Some interesting points but after a couple classes you begin to notice that he rambles. Class seems very academic, but could cover most of the material in a much shorter amount of time. So-so prof.

Wow, he is an insightful prof who knows what he is talking about. It took me a while to get used to his use of vocabulary but it was an interesting course. It's tough taking notes like crazy for 3 hours but it's worth it.

Ivan De Silva is a great cop, teacher and a good friend. He takes his jobs as vocations and He teaches with a great passion. I took RELs 102 in the Spring lake ranch last summer and I enjoyed his teachings. This summer I am going to take another RELS 240 class with him as an elective course, he is really hot.

This is a man who is dedicated and passionate and compelling. I took 3 courses with him, and all were amazing...His are the only classes I would like to be able to listen in on again. I would readily take any course that he is teaching. So thankful I had the opportunity!
