Comment:
His class takes effort as it is heavy. The projects are very well designed and impressive. He was a little short tempered (usually when asked to repeat something) but I saw that get better over this semester. He was more open to questions and didn't mind repeating. His response time on Moodle is very quick and responses are very helpful.

He is a big deal in research which he should stick with that and not teach! Listen to him lecture is so boring and he doesnt make sense majority of the time when talking!!! If you ask him a question he will answer it but ask another one and he gets pissed! The projects are not too bad just do not do it last minute.

Comment:
Taking 230 with Eliot is not worth it. If possible take it when Tim Richards teaches it. Tim substituted for our class and is way better than Eliot. Eliot is short tempered and expects students to be able to understand instantly. His lectures are incredibly long and boring. Tim however, is fun and has a really good sense of humor.

Moss is actually a big deal in the field. For the class, the lectures are gone through quickly, sometimes multiple lectures in one class. The homework is 50% of the grade and they're trivial. Weekly quizzes are doable. The tests are impossible, but the class is scaled so it doesn't matter. Iclicker is used for lecture attendance. Easy A.

Comment:
Class is not extremely difficult. Homework is a programming assignment each week. They are not very difficult and provide tests which if you pass will give you a 100 on the assignment. He goes very fast in lecture but exams are open notes and you can look at lecture slides too so it doesn't matter too much. Exams are still fairly difficult.

Comment:
This professor is probably the most boring lecturer I have ever experienced. He speaks in a slow almost southern drawl that makes staying awake in lecture almost impossible. But not to worry, he basically tells you how to do the projects (which are 50% of your grade) during discussions so it is nearly impossible not to do well.

Moss was quite a boring and unhelpful professor. He wrote some very poor exams and failed to get his TAs to grade assignments on time. The class averages on exams was a D. He is very impatient and gets angry when questions are asked. He expects you to watch and pay attention to Piazza daily. Asking questions twice will make him hate you.

In person, Moss is quite boring, and he gets angry very easily when students ask questions. On Moodle and email, he is very responsive and helpful. It's very nice because often teachers ignore emails and Moodle. You can count on him to acknowledge your questions and offer help (online). In class, it's your typical straight from slides.

Attendance isn't mandatory in class or discussion which is awesome. He was very helpful through moodle with responses to student questions. Project descriptions were detailed and walked you through what to do. Awesome!

This guy is good. He knows a lot about what he is teaching and explains everything to the most minute detail. The class can get a bit slow and boring but it is still worth to show up and learn.

Very knowledgeable and explains clearly. Can be boring, but that's the nature of the subject. Exams were very easy. My only complaint is that coding assignments insinuated an option where there was none, resulting in a loss of credit.

Moss is obviously very knowledgeable and able to answer any questions about the class. However, he is also very short-tempered, and gets irritated quickly if people do not understand right away. He seems better suited to higher-level classes, often expecting us to know things about computers that we didn't and shouldn't. Could be much better.

Prof. Moss is very unapproachable. He is not patient and seems to have a negative attitude toward his students and even his TAs.

Seems like he is teaching for his own sake. He was not concerned with whether or not people learned. He provided A LOT of code with VERY FEW comments and expected us to augment it. Get used to reading the book; you won't learn from him.
