Worst teacher I have ever had in my whole entire life. NEVER take his class. Half of the time he doesn't know what he's talking about, or he doesn't know how to explain anything and makes everything SO confusing. He expects you to know everything, and doesn't teach. I've taught myself everything. Rude, annoying, always off topic, terrible.

This professor and this class are not for me. Lectures consume all available time without actually covering relevant material. Berman assumes students know MUCH more than they actually do. While students are working on one project that is coming up due, Berman lectures on an entirely different subject. Not good.

He loves to lecture in a monotone voice and use the word arbitrarily for everything. Classes were boring, lectures are recorded and posted online, as well as notes. Assignments are very hard to understand unless you're reading the book and doing the problems yourself.

Berman was one of the worst teachers I've had. He would spend a majority of the hour messing around on his computer. He would consistently go off topic. He condensed all of his work to the point that you would not be able to figure out what he was doing, even with his (poor) explanations. Everyone else in the class was just as confused as I was.

Very poor instructor. Jack was confusing,rather than illuminating. Course requirements were not clear. Someone with a better teaching style should be teaching such an abstract subject. Jack constantly digressed from the "lesson". I agree with other raters; I had to teach this subject to myself, and that's not what I paid for. Very bad!

Jack is a great instructor. Yes a dry senseless humor like most have said. Math is a difficult subject for many students and it's not the teachers fault if they explain it and you don't get it. Do the homework and you will breeze though this class.

This guy has a great dry sense of humor. He knows his stuff and you if you really want to learn he will help you. But just so you know he is a very weird person, but that's not always a bad thing. I have no problem recommending him.

Longest 2 hours of my life. Horrible teacher. Very repetitive and complex. Rude. Doesn't take attendance. NO make up work. HW is NOT graded, but lets you use it on quizzes so it's a good idea to do it. If you struggle with math, I do not recommend this professor.

Very confusing teacher. Sucks at explaining, rarely gives examples or real world connections, bad handwriting (so bad that it makes class harder), very impersonal, not very helpful... The list goes on. I'm pretty sure this guy is here because he has tenure so they can't get rid of him.Honestly, if you are good at math and learning on your own, take this class! But if you suck at math like me and want someone who can help you out, look elsewhere. I'll never take another Berman class.

Jack Berman, in my opinion, is a horrible teacher. He takes the difficult route on every problem he tries to explain. This adds to my confusion and his snarky comments towards the class dissuade me from being able to ask questions. Honestly, I'd have been better off teaching myself math.

I woud have to say that his class was one of the worst I've ever been in. I had to try to teach myself everything, because hardly anything he said was relevant. He quite often got WAY off topic. Never really helped me when I'd ask for it. Seemed very arrogant and self loathing. Made a lot of smart, rude comments. Wouldn't recommend him to anyone!

Very confusing and unorganized way of teaching. Had him for calc 3. Lectures are almost pointless, I wouldn't have gone if he didn't hand out homework during class. I had to teach myself 90% of the material. I have had a 4.0 in math all through college and have never been so disappointed in a professors teaching. Worst prof I've had to date.

Berman is the most amazing professor ever. He can be a little hard to follow at times, but that's only because he is truly interested in what he teaches; he's not a texbook reader. He took the time not only to explain what I didn't understand from his class but from Chem, Physics, Latin, and even explained General Relativity once. Brilliant person!
