Comment:

This class takes work but is worth it. Erb really gives you skills that are applicable to teaching and he does a good job of making sure the material isn't overwhelming. The hardest thing for me was learning to play the recorder.

I absolutely loved this class! Erb made music so fun, even though I had next to no musical experience. The class is easy as long as you put in the effort. It is an easy A as long as you study for the mid term and final exam! There are a few papers throughout the semester, but if you put in effort you will be fine.

from someone with zero music experience, I worked my butt off to get an A. Erb has such a lively personality I really enjoyed his classes. Takes attendance every class for participation points. You have to play the recorder. Sometimes he teaches as if you should know, but make friends with ppl who know music and you'll be good. STUDY

erb is a nice guy. i think he moves a little too fast for people that have no musical background. he will help in class and sometimes after class but make sure you know how to ask questions or he will get mad about what you dont know.

an absolute angel! started this class with 0 musical knowledge and finished the semester a pro. hes hilarious and not boring at all! the midterm and final are like 140 questions each but the study guide has exactly what will be on it. 100% would take again and im so sad he doesnt teach any other classes for my major :(

Erb is the best! He really makes sure his students know what is happening & is super funny. Music is really tough to learn, but Erb is really good at teaching it in a way that is easy to understand. You must go to class! He goes pretty fast, & missing one class can screw you.

This was definitely my favorite class this semester. Erb makes every lesson fun, and if you know music the class isn't too hard. Study for the tests, but other than that it is not too challenging, and I would even consider this class a stress reliever. Erb is awesome.

*If you are a Liberal Studies major, and have a decent music background, look into the Credit by Examination option.* Not as intimidating as it may seem. I went to class twice before testing out with a B+ but what i experienced from Erb was nothing but great- fun, quality music education. He has a real passion and interest for what he does.

I've never had a more encouraging professor. Twice after class he pulled me aside to tell me what an excellent student I was and that he expected great things for me as a teacher. His tests are hard and cumulative, but doable. Flashcards and study groups are a must. Overall, I will miss his class and am sad he doesn't offer more Lib S classes.

Erb is by far my favorite professor EVER. Had no musical knowledge prior to this class, and he even stayed after class a few times to further help me understand certain concepts. His midterm and tests are difficult, make sure to really study for them! I wish he was teaching MUSIC 343!

You can tell Erb enjoys teaching music and that he really knows what he's talking about. You do some singing and recorder playing as a class but he never makes you go do it alone in front of everyone. You can also tell he cares about his students!

Erb is an amazing professor! You go into the class knowing nothing about music and walk out knowing more then you could imagine! Definitely a class you have a work at, but Erb makes it super fun and applies it to our future careers as teachers. Honestly my favorite professor during my first semester at State!

One of my favorite classes at state! I had no music experience whatsoever at start of this class and I walked away with more than I could imagine. He explains things very clearly and it's taught like we're elementary students which makes it helpful to see how it'd be in our own classroom. HW that's required is very simple! Take this class!!!

Hes an amazing teacher. He really enjoys hes job, explain everything very well & if you dont understand something he is able to stay after class & explain it to you until you understand. Easy hw, projects, 2 quizess and final. Practice a lot and you will do fine.
