Professor is very smart, but has difficulty conveying to students without being dry and having students fall asleep in class. There is a lot of reading that is quite boring and pop quizzes that tend to drop your grade if you don't read. Tests are difficult if you don't study since he questions you on small details of the book.

Be prepared to read. I cannot imagine skipping the reading and doing well in this class. Take good notes on his presentations, do the study guides thoroughly and put in some extra time studying for the exams and it will be fine. My biggest regret was not staying consistent with my reading.

Dr. Fisher is a shining gem. His lectures are clear and include lots of intersectional research. He is accessible outside of class and really cares about his students. You should take his classes.

Jack Fisher is a great professor. He really cares about what he teaches and about his students. His lectures are clear, but may be a bit harder to understand if you don't have a basic understanding of anthropology. Not reading won't hurt your grade, but using the text can be helpful when studying for exams, as they are all essay based.

He does essay tests which is nice because you can really explain everything you want and as long as you say a few of the important words on the topic, you will get full credit... Easy to follow and super nice guy!

I find Fisher pretty amusing, and his classes are extremely easy to follow but pack a punch of information. He's a good teacher, and I really like the books he uses. Not the most exciting guy in the world but hey, you're in class to learn, not to watch a standup show. You'll learn a ton in Fisher's class.

Interesting books/readings assigned for class, but lecture is a little boring. He obviously has lots of experience with anthro, though.
