Fair tests and makes history interesting. I didn't understand something one time, so I went to his office to ask. He gave me a quick introduction to group theory, which was really nice of him (he explained to me as a math major). Very approachable, nice, clear, remembers my name and says hi when I see him around. Cool! More magic tricks, maybe? :p

I had a terrible experience with James Currie. He raised his voice at me and made the assumption I was a poor student because I dropped his class. I'm now well on my way in my academic career and have even taught university courses. My conclusion is that he was the only member of the u of w math stats department that was completely unapproachable.

confusing, random, unclear, undecisive. There were 2 assingments and they were both due on the days of the test, not helpfull because stuff on the assingment was on the test and you didnt konw if you had it right or not. Gets himself confused sometimes. I normally get B's in university this is my lowest grade yet.

He is a great guy, but does not know how to teach. I think it's time he takes an education course. Wastes time doing magic tricks, continues with a math example for half a class before he realizes it is wrong, is un-prepared, not really helpful. He just doesn't know how to teach =(

Performs magic tricks and gets the class laughing every lecture. Tends to go on math rant tangents which are not course-related. Forces too many trivial math proofs into the course that his peers avoid. His class is very enjoyable, but his teaching style is questionable. An entertainer first, prof second.

he's entertaining to watch. chalk up nose trick is great, but only after the first time. he's hard to follow. can go for half the class trying to explain something but later realized he did it all wrong. he's better stick to his magic tricks.
